I know most of you are busy fussing with the last details of your special day tomorrow. Whether you are hosting or being hosted , I know what a special holiday this is for all of you..and wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving.and a Happy Chanukah too !

Happy Thanksgiving, friends! I always say once you break bread together you share so much more than the food - even virtually. I am always very reflective and melancholy this time of year. At the same time it is my favorite holiday since it is just about being together. We all have our ups and downs in life and I think about the Thanksgiving I spent at my mother's hospital bedside and the one I will celebrate tomorrow with my brand new daughter and my boy and I think of those we lost this year and those we gained and everything in between. I am hosting 8 with some additional stragglers coming for dessert. I always start my day alone in the kitchen at the crack of dawn; frying the onions and celery for the stuffing - before I have even had my coffee and having myself a good cry and not even pretending it's the onions. Then I'll end the day sitting around the table and laughing so hard at my Aunt Barbara and Uncle Bill who are the funniest people on the planet and then the tears will be of laughter. For those that are struggling this year - hugs for you. My favorite song from Santa Clause is Coming To Town... We've been very cold, and have had a crew in installing a new bathtub and floor in the master bath. Oh, the innings and outings through the doors kept a chill in the house - I was happy to be sewing a binding on a large quilt, LOL. The bathroom is beautifully done, but I think it might still be too cold out in my studio - it's a garage, and while I have a space heater, once that concrete floor chills, it's COLD out there.

Thank you.

We are off tomorrow morning - over the river and through the woods to my son's home in the mountains of western Virginia. It snowed there today and it's going to be COLD.

The whole family will be there, should be fun.

We had our meal yesterday (roast duck and roast chicken with the usual side dishes mom cooks) and it was just my parents and I, but the food was good. Eat hearty everyone!

Our Thanksgiving is very different this year. We're home today for the first time in ages, and Jerry is cooking the dinner! (he's feeling a little better.) He insisted he wanted to do it. Lucky me!
