Happy Thanksgiving, Happy Columbus Day

Now that we have our conversations forum, I won't (hopefully) get flamed for posting a "holiday" message here, the way I did at Easter. LOL

Just wanted to take a minute to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving (for the Canadians) and a very happy Columbus Day (for the Americans). Any which way you celebrate it, have a great weekend with family and friends.

I'll be working so no turkey this year. Maybe if it's nice, we'll have a barbecue and make that our last one until Christmas Eve.

Turkey will be happening here on Monday! It's my favourite meal! The only thing this year is that our garden was so crappy that very little of our dinner will come from it. Usually that's my big thing at Thanksgiving, trying to serve just about everything from the garden. Next year!

Happy Thanksgiving day also to all Canadian Garden Web members and happy Columbus Day to our American friends.

We will be having Thanksgiving on Monday at my daughters. My son-in-law, the chef, likes to put on dinner parties, so it will be quite a feed.

I am spending the rest of the weekend cleaning up my garden and getting ready for winter. The forcast says we are supposed to get sn** next weekend. I hope not.

We had such a good Thanksgiving that I can't imagine anyone leaving the party just to stand in a long line at a big box store. Our DD and hostess had invited people from such different backgrounds to join our family and old friends. There was an old time hippy, who turned out to be so well read in everything from Sci-fi to the classics. There was not a topic discussed that he wasn't knowledgeable about. Mellisa from Ghana, tall, statesque, and full of laughter, unexpectedly had a English accent that showed her years of studying at Queen's college in London. Candy, who felt that her Chinese name was too difficult for Americans to pronounce, was fascinated by everything in our country. She wanted to know more about our history, our holidays, and how we happened to have a day set aside to feel thankful for all the good things in our lives. It was so interesting to learn about their countries from their prospective, rather than what we hear on the media.

I wish KTers Happy Canadian Thanksgiving too! Some of my distant relatives may still be hanging out in Nova Scotia, where my great grandparents were born. Here the banks were closed for "almost" Columbus Day, but maybe it was a tip of the hat to Canada.

Happy Thanksgiving and Columbus day. Maybe, just maybe, it might be "borderline warm" here, and we'll be able to sit outside in the sun with light jackets.

As it becomes more fall like, you really appreciate any little bit of warmth you can get, even if it only lasts for a couple of hours in the middle of afternoon.
