My husband and I love to pick up pieces of art on our travels. One year, we went to Honduras with a small group, and spent our last day there at the open-air market, where we found a handmade, carved-pottery vessel. On our way home, our group was chosen for a little extra scrutiny by the customs agents. As the agent ran a cloth over my carry-on bag, in which we had stowed the pottery for safe-keeping, my friend, who had already passed thru the checkpoint, came up and innocently asked, "Is that the bag that your pot is in?" I ignored her question, hoping that it wouldn't be misconstrued by the agent. She repeated it, more loudly this time. I was sweating bullets as I said to her, under my breath, "Think about what you're saying!" Fortunately, we were dismissed and made it onto the plane without being arrested!

sometimes it's the little things in a grocery store that can be such a cool reminder of a vacation...

17 years ago, my husband won a trip 7 days and no nights in the artic circle, summer solstice in Finland, Sweden (thanks, KFOG!) and as my son turned a month old on this trip, we stopped by the supermarket for diapers. I've learned to look around, saw something and just had to buy several of them. Gave many to my sisters who loved it.
I now have Swedish spice jars filled with dried tarragon ... and the labels read Dragon!
Flake of dragon? Now that's a cool kitchen accessory. Cackle, cackle, cackle
