Thanks, I may have been less than clear. All I want to remove is the list of email addresses that came with the email to me. In the case of Thunderbird I have 2.0.0.24, the forward causes a new email to open and the information to be forwarded is an attachment - i.e., no way to delete any of its parts. I'll try the copy and just start a new original message and paste it in. I think I tried that before and found problems when the message being forwarded had an attachment. Hum, in that case,and if it is the attachment I really want, I could save the attachment on my Desk Top and use it as an attachment in a totally new email construction. I had used Outlook for business for many years, and when one forwards that, on has access to the forwarded information...and I think email list. Thunderbird is fine, but as the saying goes it isn't "industrial strength".. such as Outlook is. Another thing I liked in Outlook was when I saved a messages I could modify the subject line to be more meaningful to me, then save the message. Thunderbird doesn't allow me to modify the received email - or I just haven't tried hard enough. Maybe Thunderbird is trying to prevent plagiarism ;).

ok you sound like you have much more than one thing going on if firefox is gone too. You could have an infection if so it could have changed your password and settings. Hum, figured out how to do a restore, restored to last evening, and now Thunderbird works. I wonder why it is so hard (for me) to find the restore function...guess MS is trying to protect me from myself. Still looking for the Thunderbird Mail files. I have the manger set to read/display hidden files. Still no luck finding the subject files.

I finally phrased my question so that Google found a similar query and solution (from 2006) that still worked 8 years later! In case this might help another user, here are the step from the Moderator at MozillaZine. âÂÂClick on the imported address book name in the left hand pane. Now click on any name in the right hand pane and then use menu path Edit->Select All, or press Ctrl-A. Now drag and drop the data from the imported address book to the Personal Address Book. Once you have confirmed that everything has copied over properly you can delete the imported address book.â I would add that this didn't work smoothly until I deleted special lists/groups. Once they were removed, the whole address book previously under the âÂÂThunderbird Addressesâ name quickly and correctly transferred to âÂÂPersonal Address BookâÂÂ. I'm a happy camper.
