I can easily see if I've gotten new email on my other account without switching software, etc Now a new problem occurred yesterday - before I made those changes - and I have no idea what I may have done to cause it. probably something I did in experimenting with all these different email issues. I had my firefox set up to send links in emails (from my AOL address). But now I'm trying to send my mother a link (for the emergency microsoft update from 2 days ago) - and when I'm in Firefox (and the computer forum thread is open - or any web page is open) - and I go to File - then click send link - it brings up an email form (with my screen name in AOL as the sender - so that party's working) - but a whole mishigosh of info (the link info, perhaps) appears in the space where I should be entering the email address I'm sending it to. I have no idea why that is happening. If I cut and paste that info into the body of the email - and send it to myself to test it - it doesn't appear to be a link to get me to the webpage I want). Seems to me that the webpage link should be referred to in the subject line - and supplied in the body of the email - not some mess of information occuring in the send to line. I tried going to FF tools - applications- and mail to . I have several options to choose from - use AOL software (this appears twice - once with the AOL triangle with "default" in parentheses and once with what looks like a mail page form), and once it says use AOL mail. I think I've tried all three and it still doesn't work. And before I started trying to change my email settings this week, I think there was only 1 or 2 AOL options for mail application in Firefox. Okay - so now I checked all three. On use AOL mail, it gives me the gibberish (somehow related to the webpage I'm trying to send a link for) in the to: line. If I choose use AOL software (default) - with the mail form logo - it goes to AOL software - sets up the email correctly with the information about the link in the subject line - and the to: field blank for me to fill in the recipient. But it wants me to sign on or the send button is faded and I can't click it. If I choose use AOL software (with the AOL logo - not the email logo), it takes me to the AOL software page and says this file may not be supported by AOL. AOL will try to send it as a text file (and if I choose to try, it will tell me the file is too big). So I do I email somebody links? Thanks. Lynn.

I started with a single Yahoo address, and now have several addresses on Yahoo. They restrict me to 200 file folders, and as far as I know, I can't sub-head files. Had one at AECCafe, an architectural and engineering site, back when they offered more storage than Yahoo. Son likes gmail, got me started on them, also. Friends like it, because I'm on dial-up, so they can't call when I'm online, and often I'm doing other things so don't see their email that arrives on Yahoo ... I think that it would notify me if I were to use Instant Messenger. Gmail has a little circle that sits down in the right corner of the screen, and when a new message arrives, a red "M" appears in it ... ... so my friends appreciate that if they want to get in touch quickly, they can do it. My ISP, Porchlight, an agency that serves about half a dozen medium-sized cities in this area, offers one (up to 3?, I think) , as well ... but I seldom use it. A news service sends a message at least once daily, but I'm not much interested in them. Yahoo separates the apparent spam, which they used to direct to a "Bulk" bin ... but they recently redesignated that area as "Spam". I don't feel that they're super good it blocking it. I have received hundreds of offers to aggrandize my penis, some offering to have it done right quickly ... but haven't taken them up on any of their offers, thus far - don't feel the need. I was a bit worried about one that claimed to be fast-acting ... figured that if I took their pill a bit too long (if you'll pardon the expression) ... I'd probably need a wheelbarrow to cart the organ around! Anybody interested to help some employee of a bank somewhere in Africa (or Hong Kong, Netherlands, U.K., etc.) that knows of an account of several million owned by someone who, along with his entire family, died in a plane crash, which this person would like to set you up as a long-lost relative, or business partner, to collect the money (before the bank transfers it into it's unclaimed account file) ... for your trouble, he's offering you 40% or so, usually, and he'd like you to help him come to your country, so that he can invest the rest. I've received over 150 or them at one address ... if I added up the total of my share, it'd surely come up to somewhere near half a billion. That'd be a big problem ... I wouldn't have any idea of what to do with that much money! I've used Outlook Express some in the past, but haven't been set up for it for a long time. Already tried but that was unsuccessful even though I waited several hours and even rebooted the PC. This is what ended working: Because my inbox is configured on IMAP (not POP2), I followed these steps: - Open Outlook and go to the File menu. In the File menu, select Options. In the Options menu, select Advanced. In the Advanced menu, select the Send/Receive tab. In the Send/Receive tab, click on the Send/Receive button. Then, click on the Edit button. - In the Edit send/receive groups window, find the email account and un-check the option "Get folder unread count for subscribed folders". - Under the Received mail items section, check the option "Use the custom behavior defined below". - In the window that appears, you will see a list of your IMAP folders so, select the Inbox folder and leave the others unchecked. - Click the OK button to save the changes. - Exit out of the Options menu and perform a send/receive to test if there is any improvement. The Send/Receive got paused for much less than a half a minute and afterwards does not delay processing the Send / Receive Requests. I left the Outlook settings that way.

I used to have multiple Yahoo email accounts back when Yahoo clubs and IM were popular in the early 2000s. I had German, Italian, and French accounts (*.de, *.it, and *.fr), and I decided to pretend to be a woman (Thérèse D'Extase) for my French Yahoo profile, and she was also a dominatrix. Unfortunately, this attracted too many friend requests from men in Switzerland and France. I did have a fair number of friends through my German and Italian profiles, but I did get tired of chatting in German and Italian (sometimes at the same time), although I did find it good practice for switching between languages at the drop of a hat - something that I am not the best at doing. I had a long chat in German once through one of the German Yahoo groups only to find out that he was in Los Angeles and American. I lost interest in Yahoo after they stopped supporting clubs. My brother and I had a club called "Venice Beach Bros" and we did meet a few local people through that club, including Bathtub Girl, who used to have podcasts from her bathtub in Venice, just a few blocks from our house. After a while, I found the Yahoo popup IMs to get annoying. At that time I was also doing web design and hosting, and I managed POP email accounts for our clients. I really prefer this time of email to the free email, partly because it allowed me to save emails on hard drives.
