you got infected. go get these programs and run both of them, be sure you hit the update button on each before running them, let them clean what they find. both are free.

put spywareblaster on the pc, remember to open it and hit update once a week to get new definitions, then hit the enable all protection so the shield turns green that is all you have to do it will stop some of these things from getting on in the first place.

Kids should never ever be allowed to run the computer as an admin account, go to start> control panel> user accounts> create new account and set up a limited user account for anyone else to use so they do not have access to the admin account, put a very good hard strong non sense password on your admin account they can not guess and keep everyone off the admin account.

the click on thing is very very bad just because it looks like it is a profile button or any kind of button you think is safe it in reality is NOT it is actually a button which when clicked just gave permission to install malware on your pc, NEVER randomly click on things you are not positive about. And definitely things on My Space!

If when you try to go to any of the sites i listed you are not able to or can not download them come back and let me know that means you got a redirect/blocked infection which will block all access to security related sites.

When I was new at this I got infected with Porn. one picture after another. What a shocker.

My daughter is 24 and all she did was click on someones profile to see what they were about. She has done this thousands of times, and nothing like this has ever happened before. I have norton and it usually blocks, or finds everything. If Lavasoft adaware is still good I think that I might download it. I had it before. I am not sure about the others.
I ran a thorough scan with Norton 2009 and it didn't show anything.

First of all Norton and any other Anti virus programs are only Insurance measures they do not guarantee anything and more importantly they in no way detect everything..
Lavasoft is not really going to add much more protection.

Your better off following all of ravens suggestions. All of them- then post the log from each program ran. Malwarebytes and SuperAntispyware at that point we could give better instruction on what is on the machine causing problems.

Myspace, facebook, youtube, and all social type sites are big targets for virus writers and risky sites.

Well I tried lavasoft and it ran a scan. It showed that I had adware.yazzle. It removed it. It showed some other things but the software was not working right and for some reason it couldn't remove the low items. My computer kept hanging up and I couldn't click the program off. So I removed it. I then went to Microsoft and downloaded Defender. I guess the adware is gone because it didn't show up on Defender. I had tried earlier to find a yazzle remover and I was not sure of the sites that had them, but hopefully it is gone.

Bettey, glad it appears to be gone, but can't understand your reluctance to use the recommended programs. These people know what they're talking about. They've helped many of us keep our computers as clean as possible, given the prevalence of malware now. Sandy

it is your decision not to follow the directions and run the programs (not wise), you are most likely still infected the programs you chose to run will NOT delete these infections . Perhaps you should do a little research about clickjacking and antivirus xp infections, you likely even have a rootkit on your pc they have been included lately.

I really don't care what age anyone is it can happen to any one at any age, if they are using sites like my space and other social networking sites they are targets for this very kind of infection, and I sure would not want them running on my pc with admin priviledges. Clicking on a button which " looks like a profile " button IS NOT necessarily a profile button it is made to look like one but in reality it is a button when clicked that installs this infection on your pc.

We do this kind of cleaning and removal daily for FREE as volunteers on many forums. But the choice is certainly yours you can absolutely choose to stay infected, know of course that none of your info on your pc will be safe and that you will likely be seeing your address book being used to send infections to those listed in it. If you do have the rootkit version that will be the least of your problems.

adaware has been out dated for some time now.
try doing a google search for clickjacking and antivirus xp and rootkits or just try doing a search right here.

Bettey you can have a certain feeling of confidence when using a help forum such as this one. If I were to give you totally false information another poster would jump in and correct the error. If you are of a nervous disposition, as many computer users are, you can always Google the advice given to see what others might say.

The upside of this particular forum is the level of courtesy shown by everyone. Some sites seem to attract bad tempered knowalls who will insult you without hesitation. Feel at home here and ask any questions you may have, bearing in mind the more details you provide the better the answer might be.

You can rest easy after these people tell you to download a program. They will not steer you to a site that will install a virus or a trojan. Owbist is very knowledgeable about computers as he is a member of another computer forum that is very helpful to its members also. I belong to it and have seen first hand his willingness to help someone who has a problem with their computer. Just be glad that no one here is charging you for their help. Removing malware for a fee is not inexpensive, believe me.

you did not offend me, it is part of my job to try to make a person understand the infection they have and what will work and what will not, it is also part of my job to be direct when needed to let a person know how serious these infections are and how easily any one of us can get them. It is definitely discouraging when we see people ask for help then choose not to use it, it does take us a while to put all that together and in that time we could have been helping someone else.
I personally am on numerous online help forums as are others here, sometimes we are spread rather thin trying to get it all done.
You can continue to use those programs and do weekly updates with them and scan your pc, they will help you to stay clean.
