No advice on the tile but would you share the make of the vanity? We need to order one in the next day or so and have seen a few similiar to yours- want to see if I considered this one. Assume it is 24 inches? Thanks!

Our MB and Hall bath will both be small, too (we're planning to "steal" about a foot from the hall bath to add some width to the MB). Both vanities are 24" wide (jjags--FYI, we had ours made by a local guy--copies of the Sonia Europa, but 36" tall with the sink top, so the drawers themselves are a bit deeper than the Sonia version--and a lot cheaper!).

We haven't chosen any tile yet (tub walls, floor...), but our plan, like yours, is to possibly tile the stretch of wall from the sinktop to the ceiling (under and over the medicine cabinet, and along the sides depending on the size of the mirror in relation to the vanity/sinktop). Not seen any pictures either, but the one in my head looks pretty good! LOL

we wired an outlet inside the cabinet so we can plug in the hairdryer etc and not have cords hanging anywhere.

couple of htings we learned - one, the sink is shallow and my DH is a bit messy -so he is splashing quite a bit. the sink has no overlow drain (we knew going in) but i think we can get tops that do. we do really like the look - so am really trying to figure out the tile - we might tile the walls behind and up to the mirror - so am really seeking pix.

lauriec--Sonia makes/sells the sinks with overflow holes now. Apparently they were having trouble passing inspection in the US (or at least in some cities) without them. Our salesperson made a point of ordering/getting us our sinks with the overflows.

Here it is with the 31.5" vanity that we had made for that bathroom (we ended up having the 24" ones made for the other bathrooms because we liked the first one so much):

The 24" sinks each have a single overflow hole (vs the 3 smaller holes in our larger sink). I think they changed to that because they were having problems with the 3 hole version during manufacturing (glazing issues?). They come with a chrome ring for the hole, but it can be popped out/off if you don't want to use it.

I would suggest you go up the wall with Carrara marble just like in the shower, put in an accent band through the tile above the faucet so it won't visually make a cross. Use a chair rail to finish the wall with the fat end up which will act as a ledge for your mirror. If it flows from the shower it will look seamless.

Thanks LaurieC and Cat Mom. This is so helpful. We have a very small second bath (kids and guest). It is about 5x9 except near the door it is 4" wide since the chimney is in that wall. The bathroom was so bad the kids would hardly use it. We had it gutted and are about half way done getting it back together.

We have been all around on a vanity. Picked out a Ronbow at first and then considered a Fairmont metro since we liked the divided drawer for the kids on the top. That Sonia is awesome but was out of our budget for this project.

It turns out our contractor has cabinet maker who works for him so we are going to have something made so we can get exactly what we want and he is going to build shelves to match in the deadspace behind the door that is not useable. A copy of the the Sonia might be in order.

Tile is basic porcelain (shore valadero) and we are using a mosaic glass tile (Sumi-e Sesshu Natural) for accents.

Here is a question. The sink I bought is a lot deeper than yours (6 or 7 inches) but similar style. I am wondering now if I should do some sort of backsplash around the sink. We have extra tile in various sizes as we over ordered (2x2 of the shore and also an extra SQFT of the glass). The sheetrock (or what ever is called) is already in- used one type for the wet areas and something else for the areas that will not be tiled. If we want to do a back splash around the sink is the contractor going to have to change the materials? The plaster guy is coming Saturday for the non tiled areas so I guess I need to know. The GC will not be happy to hear from me on a Sat. but oh well.

We are going with a 35 inch Broan Metro frameless recessed cabinet so the backspash would not be more than 6 inches maybe? I have to measure to see how low the cabinet goes.

Any thoughts? I am pretty new on here so I am not sure about posting pics yet. When we did our basement I used that forum some but not to the extent I have been using this forum- way more decisions for a bathroom. I will attempt it tomorrow when I have more time.
