Mae (lowspark) thank you for an absolutely awesome swap package. This has got to be the cutest and bestest theme I have ever seen!

Mae sent a note telling about the Texas Two-Step, a popular country dance. She sent the directions to do the dance. (Duh, like I am the most uncoordinated thing ever) so I will probably just read it and not do it..lol

Then the note continued telling that "Texas Two Step" is the theme. Each of the "4" gifts she sent me have two steps.

Here is Texas Two Step #1 "Sweet and Sweet Hot, That's what we like in Texas." This is lemon fig marmalade and peach/jalapeno preserves.

Here is Texas Two Step #2: ""Heatin' it up, Texas Style" This includes Smoky Chipotle Salsa and Peach Salsa.

Here is Texas Two Step #3 : "Wash it all down with Texas flair" which is a bottle of chardonnay and a bottle of Merlot, both produced in Texas!

Thank you so much Mae. I have a collection of both jams and jellies, and salsas, so both were very, very much appreciated. And I never, and I mean never, turn down wine. Yummy! Think I will open one right now. And, there was a long discussion about wooden bowls, and about how badly I wanted one. You did a really, really great job of researching me, and I am absolutely enthralled with my package!

So, the good news is that my Hoya has grown. Must be a few feet long in total. The bad news is that I've just let it sit there. Once it got to the long and lanky stage, I just sort of lost interest and let it grow, fertilized occasionally and waited it out. Since I'm in the middle of repotting all of the things I want to take indoors or move to the front of the house, I figured I'd finally do something with this plant. But now that I have finally paid attention to it, I notice a couple of issues. 1. I thought it had mealy bugs but now I am not so sure--maybe it does but there's also something else. I take a cotton swab with alcohol and wipe it off but this milky sap keeps coming out. Um, are they supposed to leak sap? It's like a ficus Hoya.... 2. The second issue is self evident in the first shot --what is with the brown spots on the underside of some of the leaves? When I un-potted it, I noticed long and very white, clean roots--but since this plant was always on the ground, I always looked at it from the top and didn't notice this spotting. What is indicative of? It can't be root rot with those roots.... Closeup: Other than those two issues, it seemed okay. So I've now FINALLY tied it to a wire hanger and will pay more attention to it. Poor thing...it was so cute originally. I kept it in my "dunno what to do with this" corner for too long. There have been a couple of Hoyas I wanted but always scolded myself that I don't deserve another one until I grow this one properly.

I got Climbing Rainbows End and Jeanne Lajoie,and Red Cascade in January and they are doing great,and since I got those,been looking at this one and the Pennies from Heaven.I have took a big interest in mini's lately.Do you have any more mini's you can share? Maggie I'LL tell you about me and frogs. During a swap, our little Miss Cheater Pants, aka JESSY, got my name. I was a little new to the group so Jessy researched my name here on the forum and she found some old posts over on the Reptile/Amphibian Forum, I had posted asking for help in getting rid of all the frogs that were all over our porch. They were pooping everywhere and peeing everywhere and it was just horrible!!!! So Jessy took off with this frog idea and she sent me the funniest swap package; it had frog shaped pasta, an apron with frogs on it, rubber frogs that were threaded on shish kabobs, Gosh I can't even remember all of it. But I laughed so hard I had to go change. So that's where the frogs came from.

Well, hamamelis, you and 'justerrilynn' above WIN. All of the colors are nice, but a few other cyber friends voted for the 'Black on Brown'. I ran upstairs and took it off the closet door and held it up by the mirror, and it was quite striking. Plus, I wouldn't have believed this possible, but I seem to have a new appreciation for neutrals, as shown in the powder room above, which looked like THIS before I painted and changed the decor. Before I ordered the wallpaper, I wanted to look in my fabric stash to see if I had any fabrics on hand to make a window treatment with, and that sealed the decision. :-) I know that my pic below doesn't show the true colors, but for summer, the linen check on the right is great with it, and the center fabric at bottom, P Kaufmann Colburn Check in 'charcoal', and the black and cream one on the right would be great for winter - like a cozy flannel shirt! The stripe at top is also good, but quite heavy, so I'll save that for something else.

I'm so glad it all arrived in one piece (I was especially worried about the wine!) and that you like it. I really wanted to send some "Texas" your way plus something I knew you really wanted. I had actually planned to buy something totally different than the wooden bowls, but when I was shopping, well, there they were, calling my name, May... buy me for Sherry! Well, what could I do? I had to buy them!

I really enjoyed shopping for you and I'm so glad you like everything. My package also came today (woohooooo!!) and I'll be posting that info next!

Actually, it is Corian, but it is called "Canyon." Do you still want a closeup?

I love the theme too. The wooden bowls are beautiful and I can almost taste the lemon fig and peach jalapeno preserves.

Yes, I'd like a close up of your tile backsplash with your counter top.
I just put in Maui in my kitchen. And in your picture, it almost looks like it could be my counter top. LOL
I have yet to figure out a backsplash..
Hence why I wanna look CLOSER at yours.
