oooh, Ingrid, I'll tell DH we have lots of money. He'll be happy. :)) Here's a pic of Rosette Delizy that I just took. Diameter of flowers is about the same as length of leaves - less than 2". You might think this is a heat thing, but they were only a smidge larger in spring. Here's the bush. Quite wide and about 6' tall. Do yours and mine look at all like the same bush?? Location, location, location. Yellow teas here are quite disappointing to me except for Anna Olivier who maintains a huge petal count and diameter even now. She has the same almost white yellow color but is more pleasing to me due to size. Veronica, honestly, I didn't look for the pink wash since I could barely find the flowers, and they were more white than yellow, too. She's thornless and came from RPN so I'm sure she is MDC. Don't know what effect my soil may have on yellow teas. And truly, this summer my roses look pretty good, well leafed and blooming for the most part in the front anyway. Being in the ground, getting fed and watered more must be good things. :)) I'll mark you down as a vote for Alexander Hill Gray. It's good to know he's a good bet here. Too bad about Reubens. I read it's a beautiful rose. WRS's flower size now wouldn't bother me too much because of its shape if it really is like the Cochets. I'll try to be very discreet about what I dig up. It will almost kill me to dig up RD so I would rather not, but I think I would really like Carefree Beauty who really looks like he can put on a show - even though not an antique. Sherry

I agree with Roseseek. THE PILGRIM is anything but thornless. If you want a yellow climbing rose with fewer thorns then try its parent GRAHAM THOMAS. REINE DES VIOLETTES is about as thornless as it gets for a rose. Truthfully I've never noticed any thorns on my plant. Both flowers and foliage are fragrant, which is an added bonus. The growth habit is graceful and mannerly so you won't have to worry about it growing out of bounds. Its one fault is a tendency for Chlorosis (caused by a nutrient deficiency). This cultivar is more susceptible to it than any other rose that I've grown so keep an eye out for yellowed leaves. Solutions include getting a grafted plant on Dr. Huey rootstock or amending your soil. Get your soil tested: pH should be neutral (6.5-7) with plenty of iron for the roots to feed on. Drainage should also be optimal so if you have red clay add some peat moss to fluff it up. I know this sounds like a lot but RdV is one of those roses who is worth the extra effort. A well grown plant in full bloom will stop traffic. CLOTILDE SOUPERT is a gorgeous climbing polyantha that does very well in USDA Zone 6. It has hardly any thorns and flowers are intensely fragrant. It is prone to balling and powdery mildew, which is really only ever a problem in places like California. With enough summer heat the flowers open just fine in spite of the humidity. While it is upsetting to know that I may have roses dying in a short while, I have learned a good lesson. However, some of the unidentified roses which were purchased at Walmart are doing very well in my garden. Maybe l have gotten lucky. When I have my own place I will seek out the nurseries you have recommended. This is my mothers yard, and so I do hope the roses I planted will last. I just wanted to fill in her yard quickly since I am staying with her for a while and have the time to do so (new graduate that is job-hunting!). Here is what I gathered. I hope this is helpful. My red rose, the one I believe is Blaze or possibly Don Juan is doing very well, it is pretty much to the top of my fence now, and this is its second year. My white (iceberg?) rose has been around for 3-4 years now and is doing well, although it is a bit slow to grow. The yellow was planted the same time as the red, but I have moved its location, so I think I may have hindered its growth, though it looks like it is about to bloom a good amount very shortly. All roses, identified or not, look healthy. I hope everything will be alright. Most of the roses seem to be products of the USA but have been potted or grown in Canada. Maybe they'll last? They came in large black squarish pots or long green ones with lids..

I have it ordered from Vintage for this spring (they sell it as JacTan) Also, your Stormy Weather looks so much different than the marketing pictures, I actually like your photos better.
