This little program will download the video, and convert it to a format Media Player can play.

After you download and install it, start the program...right click the URL and then tell vdownloader where you want it to put the file.

Small program does not interfere with anything.

I'm a little late on this posting but I wanted to share this anyway.

When you have a youtube video that you wish to download, type: abc into the url of the video, right before the word youtube.

I have an example pasted below.

I think that I should have explained the process a little clearer.

When viewing a youtube video, the url will show in the address bar.
Just type the abc into the url and then hit the Enter key!
Thats it.

I think that where some folks get confused is: There are actually a couple of ways to download youtube videos using this tool/site.

You can put a youtube url into the box on the "Sites" home page and click download from there or ... you can do as I described in my other posts.

Here is where I Think you are getting confused: As you are playing a youtube video, you add the abc into the url, and hit enter .. You are then taken directly to the ABC download site.

Now, when you get to the site, you are seeing that box that has the youtube url within and the Download button beside it, correct?

Just Ignore that box.

Instead, scroll down and you will see a preview of the video that you want to save!

To the left and right of the video, you are given several options .. (mp3, mp4 etc. etc.).
Click on one of the options and a box will come up asking how you would like to open the video .. Ignore that and just click Save.
Another box will come up where you will be able to browse to a folder where you would like to save the video to. Click on the folder and then click Save.

Bada Bing: Your video will be downloaded to that folder!

That is a 1(one) and not an I(eye)in the email name.

You can also 'right click' on any of the MP3, MP4 etc.etc. options and a drop down menu should appear and say: Save To Download Folder.
Just click on that option.

canibus you must use html here on this forum not bb code use links that have an html beginning rather than the img code.

I can download as MP4, but it won't play with my media player Version 10.

I am running it on my Vista Home Premium 64 bit

VLC is one of my top choices also, I have used it in my linux boxes for a long time and now also use it on some of my windows boxes.

canibus if you happen to use firefox there is a great add on that lets you hilight any text on a webpage and select to make it an html link which you can then use here in this forum I use it daily.
It is called Copy as Html link and can be found in the firefox add ons list.

I will install now on my 32bit system. Thanks much.

And I love the Firefox Copy as HTML link add on. My computer novice hubby drags and drops the link into the address bar. Much easier for him than copy/paste.

The installation went perfectly.

Woe. The video part (mp4) plays but no audio. I up-ed the volumn with no effect.

Tried playing mp3 music and audio is fine on that.

What am I missing?

Maybe I should add the video I downloaded with youtube was done 3 days ago.

Hi JustMe!

I have been wracking my brains and searching for answers. Decided finally to try to convert the mp4 to mp3. And thought while I'm at it I will re-download a saved video from June of this year (done with the earlier version of youtubedownload of course). Maybe uninstalling Adobe removed a needed component???

While trying to do the conversion I clicked on the new download file to get it into the conversion (?) and it opened in VCL, and Played the Audio! I can go to bed now.

Oops, so I check the file extension on the June video file versus the same video re-downloaded tonight --- .flv on the June one and now it's downloading as a .mp4 --- I assume utube has done this to all their content.

Maybe my computer just needed the reboot to kick things in gear :-)
