I think I'll buy a lottery ticket!!

It is my lucky day today!! (In a way!)

The day before Christmas, I noticed my refrigerator had a layer of ice across the inside back wall and the top shelves weren't very cold, but stuff was freezing in the middle. I blamed it on being so full of stuff and the boys having the door open thirty times an hour. All seemed fine for the past few days but since the fridge is 20 years old, I was on deathwatch!

Came home from the grocery store at 2pm with $190.00 worth of food and as I was filling the fridge, I thought wow, it sure is quiet and look... the frost is all gone! Then I realized.... it wasn't working!!! Neither the compressor or the fan that runs when the door first closes!! Aaaarrggh! And I finally got all my little bottles of condiments back to preGustav levels!! Plus what was I going to do with all of this food?!

I called the nearest repair shop who works on Subzero. We're out in the country about 20 miles. At first they said that it might be Friday or even Monday since they weren't working on New Years. But then they called back and had a repairman who lived about 10 miles from me and was on his last call of the day and he'd swing by.

Less than 45 minutes after I called, he was there and it wasn't my compressor or anything huge "just" the controller. Amazingly even to him, he had the part on his truck and it was fixed in less than 30 minutes.

He didn't have any invoices with him, and I didn't even ask what the cost was but since a new Subzero is around 5-6K, anything is better than a new fridge. I'm thrilled!!
