Cool fixture! Um, let's see. You want the pendants above your eyeline, right? How tall are you folks? The style is meant to hover near the ceiling so the 22" sounds right. And I wouldn't choose that style with the four pendants for an 8' ceiling, though the 2 would be okay. I think it's better suited to your 9' anyway. It would be a foot or less higher than the lowest you should go. Some of it depends on the look you want, and whether you'll see the bubbles in the shades etc., if it's higher. Part depends on the amount of light you'll get. Farther away means less of a hot spot, but it'll still light up :)

I am 5'5" and DH is 5'9".

I don't want the pendants to be too low and feel like they are in the way, but 7 feet up seemed awfully high. That's about 51" above my island.

I've spent a lot of time researching pendants lately and so when you said 22" height, it didn't seem right to me. Plus when you look at the picture of the 24" track, it's much longer. Since I'd rather help you than work, I called PB myself. The first person who answered said the "maximum height" of the 60" track is 36". She sounded a bit dim-witted so I called back and got a very helpful man, who said that the description said that the pendant height is adjustable. But he also promised to do a little more looking to verify it, and will call me back. He also was able to give me the heights of the other types of pendants (photographer's, etc.) and those were all 33" or so, so I'll bet your rustic pendants are longer than 22".

What about the pendant version insted of the track version. They come with 8ft. of wire.

Jenanla: I only have one light "hole" above my island, so I need a fixture that only requires one electricity hole. I would love to do several of the individual pendants, but I don't have electricity for it and adding that electricity is not an option right now.

AunttoMichael: I've been going back and forth with PB Customer Service for a week now, trying to find someone who actually sounds confident about the information they are giving me. Strange that the dimensions are not listed on their website; usually they are really good about providing detailed information about their products. Anyway, the first person told me the pendants hang 78" from the ceiling. Ummmm, no. It is not possible that they hang 7 feet down from the ceiling. The second person told me "The track lighting comes with 3 rods measuring 4", 7" and 14" to allow you to determine how far down from the ceiling that you would like the fixture to come down" and that the height of the installed track is 8". So that's how I did my math - 108" for the 9 foot ceiling minus 8" for the track minus 14" for the longest pole.

I am eagerly awaiting PB's response to you - at some point I will just give up and order the blasted thing to find out for myself how long it is. But I hate to pay $30 in shipping and handling just to find out what their customer service should be able to tell me over the phone.

I didn't know about the three rods! But I also think you need to take into account the length of the wire (as well as the length of the fixture itself, of course). The description of the stand-alone rustic glass pendant (which I think is different from the track lighting pendant since it provides for 60 watt bulb as opposed to the 40 watt of the track) says that the wire is 8'.

I have to believe that your track pendants have adjustable wires, which is great for you and sad for me, because these are exactly what I was looking for awhile ago. (Ended up with the RH Brightwood.)

I have 8.5' ceilings and our pendants will be 28" in overall length (including shade). I would think that with a 6 inch taller ceiling, 22" pendants would be pretty short and that you'd probably want to go with pendants that were around 34" in overall length. Rejuvenation actually has a pretty decent "tool" for figuring out what overall length your pendants should be (I used the tool, but didn't buy fixtures from them). HTH.

Oh, well, if you have all those rods you can use them in combination as well! It's no biggie if the electrician has to rewire the pendants. So use a 14" + 7" + 4" to get 25"! If you want to go a little lower you can add beads or knuckles between them. That would actually look better, but it's hard to find matching knuckles. That's the main reason I didn't suggest rewiring before I knew you had all that rod--getting it to match!

try_hard, I'm in exactly the same postition. We will have 9' ceilings and the pendants I was planning on using are 22" long.

I'm sorry to hijack, but do these look "adjustable" to anyone or am I SOL? That would make me sad.

Well, so much for PB customer service. They never called me back. It is so odd that tryhard and I got such different answers when we called, and nothing really definitive.

If I were you, I would order them, and then if they are not right, call them and insist that that they pay for shipping. GL and let us know what happens!
