I think I love these pendants. Is there an affordable knock-off?

The DH thinks I have finally gone off the deep end!
Comments (11)Andrea... As several others have mentioned... Welcome to the Club! I spent quite a bit of money on some more expensive varieties last fall, and told my DH that I wouldn't need to buy any more plants. I said that with the newer varieties, I would be perfectly happy just start to start crossing my own. And I held out... I didn't order any other fans, didn't even look when people here started talking about sales. Then I had to put a special grouping together for my Mother last week. I was looking for specific DL's, and found them on Maryott's, Ridaught's, and Browns Ferry Gardens. All were having incredible sales, so OF COURSE IT WOULDN'T HURT TO LOOK.............. Mind you, I have almost 1 1/2 acres that is fully landscaped (and I mean FULLY... can't squeeze any more plants into any of my beds without removing something.) I do have a large area of lawn, but it is off limits as we are eventually planning on building our house there. And now somehow over the last week I have around 40 new DL's coming........don't know quite how it happened, but it's a done deal at this point. I guess that the woods are going to have to be pushed out a little bit further on one side or the other! The good thing is that I am lucky enough to have a DH that is wonderful as well (not quite as good as yours as I have to build my own beds :), but he's still a keeper ), and he just smiles at me and shakes his head. He is definitely not a gardner, but he still enjoys sharing at least my seedling beds because I am so excited about them. I don't know what I would do if he wasn't so tolerant of my addiction! Actually, I guess I would just have to do what a member on the rose forum once posted.....sneak out in the middle of the night to plant. After all, how is he going to notice one more plant more or less? :) Thank goodness it hasn't come to that ...............SO FAR........... Happy Planting! Comments (21)Wow, thanks for all the responses. I am going to have to reread this over very slowly so that I understand everything you all said. To answer some of your questions and comments, it's not too much house for me Gardenspice because I am buying it for cash. Taxes are high in New Jersey. They are $6700. on this house now. I want to make sure I can continue paying the taxes on it when I get older so I don't want to do anything to it that's going to cost me more money in taxes. I understand that taxes go up anyway. But I want to keep them from going up as much as possible. The taxes are one reason I am looking into building an apartment in one of the outbuildings on the property. I'm thinking ahead for old age. I want to keep this house until I die. If I had a tenant, it would help with the taxes. Unless the tax cost of the improvement cancels out any profits I would make on rent. Of course I will look into all the rules and laws I have to follow if I was going to do something like this down the road and I'd never do it without getting proper permits, etc. I wouldn't be able to sleep if I didn't follow the rules! I am also looking into other ways to make some money with this property. Making an apartment was one idea. I've also thought of having weddings and other events there. I'm a bit of an entrepreneur and will do a lot of research. Whatever we do, we will be doing all the work ourselves. As far as what's going on inside the house right now, there are open permits on it now that the code officer told us was transferrable to us so we can complete the work. Nothing is hooked up in this house. The work was in progress and then the owners had to stop. It will take us three weeks to hook it all up. There will be lots more work to do but in three weeks we'll have enough done that we will be able to get the certificate of occupancy to move in. Other than the tax man kind of rushing me off the phone, all the town guys we've spoken to about this property have been very helpful and supportive of us--they want us in there. The house has been empty for a while and I think they're afraid someone's going to buy it and turn it into some kind of halfway house type thing (it's a big old Victorian) and they would rather have a family in there who is going to give it tender loving care. It is in a town with other multiple dwelling buildings, bed & breakfasts, plus it's on five acres. I'm not even sure what I want to do with it and what I can do to it at this point. My goal is taking care of these taxes. Where I live now, on an 11 acre farm in Virginia, my taxes are only $846 a year so this is going to be sticker shock! And this whole thing might be moot if I don't get my farm sold. We lost our buyer two days before closing! Now we're praying the old Victorian is still going to be there when we get a new buyer!...See Morehave you seen a knock off of this chandelier
Comments (22)Thanks so much for all of your helpful feedback! Caminnc, I laughed out loud when I read your post because I knew that you were absolutely right. I know that the Ethan Allen one is not expensive for a chandelier, but I sooooo overlooked adding lighting to my kitchen reno budget. Thanks to Dooney and Willowdecor, I am now wishing I had the Niermann Weeks version ;-) I did see the Curry & Co version as I was searching and it is lovely too. Thanks again and I will try to post my final decision....See MoreNot happy about ebay seller..ripped off, I think.
Comments (24)It's hard to explain what I mean... I guess what I am getting at is if you were the seller how would you describe your generic snuggie without using the term snuggie? Your item would never come up in searches because people put in the term "snuggie" even to search for generic versions. Ebay really needs to account for a system where people can search for replicas or "like" models of things by keying in the brand. It's hard for a seller to list anything if it is not a brand name... if an item is only known by that brand name. Again, not saying what they did is right, I just think that's why they did it. I'm assuming the listing listed is the one... By new with tags... it doesn't necessarily mean with tags hanging. Many new clothes don't have tags. It generally just means new. Here's ebay's decription: "New with tags: A brand-new, unused, and unworn item (including handmade items) in the original packaging (such as the original box or bag) and/or with the original tags attached. New without tags generally implies they had tags or packaging that was removed. Usually a sweater you never wore. It generally implies the item was bought and not used. The "tag" word is confusing but IMHO the descriptions are really used more to imply exactly how new the item is. I don't think they meant to deceive you with it. By the way, I know I mention they allow returns but I have both a snuggie and a generic version. They are both cheap material. Snuggie's themselves are not known for their great quality. You can probably find some reviews. I think that's why they are so very cheap now. I know you paid for the brand name and want that but if you were really hoping just for a sleeve blanket, I wouldn't doubt the quality of your fakes is just as good as the originals....See Morealoha2009
