Linda, I cut pieces from sheets of compatible glass and put together my design. Then fire them in a kiln to make a flat "blank". After the first firing I will make any adjustments to the blank if necessary using a glass grinder. Then fire again at a lower temperature into a clay mold which makes the plate shape, and also fire polish the ground edges.

Each piece needs to be fired at least twice, sometimes more. And each firing takes from 14-16 hours start to finish.

I'm a HUGE dichro fan!!! I think you were the one that commented on my necklace in a picture of me several years ago on here. I have about a hundred pieces of jewelry made out of that stuff. I seek it out everywhere we go.... I love it! I love the plates, too, and have a few of those.

I like all of the plates in you pictures, but my favorite plates are the two underneath the red stiped one. I like lots of color!

I though you were making "plates of cookies" or something similar. I didn't think you were making plates. Oh my goodness! So great looking! I can't decide which I like best either. Each one is fantastic in its own way.

I'll have to look at those plates when I get home or on Saturday, as they are blocked here at work. I think I might like the first one best, but I especially like the blue one as well. I used to get slumped glass from Italy at work, but there are people here who make it as well, although they charge a lot more in L.A. than in Italy. I used to have some glass button covers that I bought at the Abbot Kinney Street Fair back in 1992, and I still see similar glass being sold there, although not button covers. I like the glass jewelry. Glass plates are very practical, and I have bought them in the past as gifts. I gave the last one I had to my sister. Your plates are nice because they are so unique and each one of a kind.

I've always been a fan of glass artwork, from Venetian art glass to Chihuly, and yours ranks right up there! It is just beautiful! I love the intricacy of the patterns, but the simple designs have a subtle beauty, too. Great job!

They are beautiful plates. I love the one with the multi-color border. I want to get more into glass fusing and slumping. All I do now is make beads. I would absolutely LOVE to have a kiln. I keep hoping to find one for a great price on Craigslist. LOL. Keep up the good work.

Clare, I am in awe of glass bead making. I tried making lampwork beads once. Yep....once. Lampwork proved very difficult for me for some reason!

But I do love my kiln!

When we were in Italy we spent best part of a day in Murano. You need to go there, you'd fit right in!

So I got a reply from Etsy. The reason I only come up if you search for a person instead of a shop is because I have no active listings. Once I put items up for sale I should come up as a shop again. Problem solved!

I brought home Murano glass pieces for family members; next time I'll just order from you and I won't tell them if you don't.

Wow! These are gorgeous! My favourites are the multicoloured ones (especially the one with the loopy edge) and the blue ones, but they are all great. I don't imagine you'll have any problems selling them, I would think they'd walk out the door (run, even :-) ).
