Thats if the stores have anything left! Mr Blizzard is hitting at Noon and we will have 12-18 inches by the morning. I ran and got all I needed so I will be in cooking...unfortunately I have my best friends fathers wake tommorrow at 2 oclock,those of you who live here understand hes being buried in Calverton National monday morning....I will wear my full length mink BRRRRRRRRRR!!! I really hope people can make it to the Island...UGH!!!!!!

Well aside from the funeral part - I'm sorry for your friend - I say bring it on!!! I love cold and snow. I know there are people here in other parts of the country who would consider this a dusting, but around here it's a special thing (to me) as it doesn't even happen every year anymore.

Yes, the supermarket shelves are empty. It makes me laugh how people stock up - could they really not get through one or two days without going to the supermarket? Even as an every-day shopper, I could make it a few days.

Here's hoping the weatherman doesn't let us down!

Eileen, is isn't Maria's dad is it?
Won't your fur get very wet and heavy in all the snow?
If it is as bad as they say, and I say IF...they might put it off..
Food, I hope it only snows in Huntington! I don't like it. Makes life too difficult..I remember trying to push my sister's wheel chair on Main St taking her Cmas shopping..Impossible..
But, can't stop it if it is going to happen!

bella, how I wish I could do something so spontaneous! I do think I'll feel better about my cabinets once the counters are changed. And I can't help to think even though I've never liked the oak, or the counters. None of it bothered me THIS much, when my walls were builder beige. I've even thought about just repainting the walls, and spending the $$ through out the rest of my house on stuff I can take with me :) BUT..dh says NO. He's tired of us talking about the kitchen, and doing nothing. So, it's getting done. NOW :) nicole, that make-over is amazing! I kind of hate people who can pull that kind of thing off, lol. I'm cheap..for sure. But when I do thinks on the cheap, it looks like it. And I have NO creativity. If I can't see it, and copy it..it's not gonna happen. So, yesterday I went shopping right after taking kids to school. I didn't have a chance to call and order. I happened in to Lowes to get some subway tile to double stick tape behind my stove. See how I like it :) And I saw the River Gemstone used on a counter! It's new, and hadn't been there before. And there it was!!! And oh my goodness, was it UGLY!!!! It had soooo much teal/blue in it, that it was up against a painted teal wall. BLECH! I feel I seriously dodged a bullet there. Had I not posted here, and waited for the votes. I probably would have gone that way, because dh liked it best. So did I, when looking at the sample. But, in it's full glory. Bad, bad, bad! Sooo, we're going with the Bella Noche ! I have to wait till 9, when they open to order. But, least I can do so with confidence.Well, sort of. My mother, who isn't the most supportive of my decorating ideas. Told me about 20 times yesterday I should keep my wood edge. Because the squared edge that I have to get (no choice there, because they're not building new decks) looks realy "cheap". Sigh. I can't win. But, that's ok. I'm fine with it. I think. Anyways, thanks again!!!!!!!!!

Eam, beachem, cpartist, and all who gave recipes for purée ing turkey, thank you! I didn't see them till now, but I know the caregiver made purée with the leftovers. Mom's sister popped in on the way to her son's, just as we eer sitting down, so she helped Mom while DH and I oversaw things (and ate!). The carrots, Cook's Magazines boiled carrot recipe (I know, I know, who needs a recipe for boiled carrots? I do.) came out soft enough that she could manage them just fine, yet just firm enough for everyone else. I passed on the sweet potatoes, it was one too many things. I used Mom's wedding china, her gorgeous silver, and the damask napkins. She didn't recognize any of it, but it color-matched the family room where we ate better than their dining room :) Dad was in tears at the table, it was his first time home since August. The house is his baby, he designed it with an architect, his own company built it, on family land. Probably our last Thanksgiving in that house. Time for new traditions.

Thanks! Oakley -yay for Aquage! That brush looks amazing. Funkyart which style do you think runs wider? My feet feel much better. My left foot doesn’t hurt at all anymore when I have them on. The right foot still does but I suspect it will take awhile for that foot to settle down. I really need a pair of comfortable (standard work with almost anything black) boots/booties but don’t really like their styles. Theres one that’s ok but I wish the toebox was shaped a little different. Going to order more sandals. Im going to look into some of the other sandals mentioned here too. Thanks Eld. Yeon -The small bottle (they have a large size too) has a dropper and I just put a drop on the applicator and run it along the top. Another drop for the bottom and drop right at the beginning of the spooly brush to use on my brows. It sounds like a lot but I have over half a bottle still. I don’t recommend brushing the oil on the lashes with the spooly brush (mascara wand) because the oil is so thick it just beads up. It’s kind of gunky feeling but doesn’t irritate the eyes at all. I do it right before bed and sleep with it on. In the morning I just rub my eyes. It seems some of its absorbed in because there’s less. ETA - Thanks for suggestions about exercises. I was thinking there was probably stretches or something I could do to help. I'll check it out. Justerrilynn -They look great! And nice ZZ plant too.

Sure. I got the recipe right from this site. As stated above, I will use the ingredients but not bundle the beans, but bake in a casserole dish and sprinkle crispy, crumbled bacon over the top of the casserole. I still call this site Gardenweb. It was known by that for so many years, I just can't use the word Houzz. The comment at the bottom was from phoggie, also of this site. Green Bean Bundles A family favorite. Amazing Aunt Audrey@gardenweb 4 16-oz cans whole green beans 1 pound bacon 1 stick butter 1 t garlic powder 1 c brown sugar S&P Preheat oven to 375. Drain green beans. Cut bacon strips in half. Wrap a piece of bacon around 12-14 green beans forming a bundle. Place in a baking pan and set aside. Over low heat, melt butter in a small saucepan. When butter is melted, add brown sugar, garlic powder, and salt and pepper. Stirring constantly, heat the mixture just until it starts to boil. Drizzle the mixture over the green bean bundles. Cover the baking pan. Bake 45 minutes covered, then remove cover and bake 10 minutes more. Maybe broil them right before serving to crisp the bacon a bit. phoggie AAA...my family loves these green beans also. I did not fix them for Thanksgiving and a grandson wondered where they were so they will be served when he comes for Christmas!

Waving at you from the other side of the pond... :)

At least with this Nor'easter the wind isn't moving water into our sunroom! It's moving fast enough the winds will be out of the NNE by the time it gets wound up later tonight.

DH went to the store late yesterday afternoon & said it was a zoo, as usual, before a storm. Our handyman also phoned yesterday & said he'd shovel/plow every 4-6" so guess we're all set. This morning, DH moved my still blooming pansies into the garage & drug in the brugmansia pots.

HoHoHO, Merry Christmas! Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow... (I HATE the snow!)

Sorry about your friend's father. Always hard, and even more so around the holidays.

I also would vote to leave that mink at home if it's still snowing hard tomorrow afternoon but, I think, you'll be OK. The VHF is broadcasting the snow to end before 11 a.m.

Well by me it's just officially changed from occasional flakes to real, accumulating snow. I think I'm more excited than the kids!

Firewood, check. Popcorn for the fire, check. Roast chicken to make the house smell homey, check. New scrapers, windshield fluid, salt, shovel, check. Peppermint schnapps, CHECK. The only thing missing is my right boot. How could I lose that? Been casually looking for it for months, but soon will really need it.

I lost my left glove, FOAS. So maybe I could send you a right boot for a left glove?? LOL.

Its coming down nice...I love the snow the kids ae at my sisters down the road and hubby and I are listening to Chistmas music and having a glass of wine. KATHLEEN: Maria who? No... Patty McNeill shes on the board at the women Hibernians Maureen went to school with her.

Snowing here now also. Winds are not bad yet at 17mph & gusting to 27mph. Thunder snow expected between midnight & 6:00 a.m. with snowfall rates of 2-4" per hour.

Our son just phoned from Maine razzing us 'cause we're always teasing them about their weather. I told him, "Hey, when you guys put your order in for snow you gave them the WRONG address!"

Diner food tonight sounded good in the storm so we're having meatloaf & mashed potatoes with sauteed green beans with sliced almonds & Christmas cookies for dessert. If we lose power we can have cold meatloaf sandwiches tomorrow.

So far the plows have scraped down my newly paved road close to twenty times. Accummulation thus far? Under a half inch.
