Do I need to reinstall?

Up until yesterday iTunes was (and as far as I can tell still is) working fine. Then yesterday morning when roommate opened iTunes he received the following message:

"The registry settings are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD Burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."

I haven't installed any other CD burning software since iTunes was installed. Roxio CD burner was all ready installed, so I don't think that's the problem.

He did mention receiving a message about iTunes but couldn't remember what it was about.

I'm a bit suspicious about this message especially since he can't remember what the notice he received was and as far as I can tell, iTunes is working fine.

Should I go ahead and reinstall iTunes or is there something I should check for first?

I Googled the quote you provided and it came up with 38,000 hits, so this is not an uncommon problem. I looked at a couple of answers and it sounded like most people who get this message use iTunes for burning CDs, and can't do that after they get the error message, and/or the listing for their CD/DVD burner disappeared from the "My Computer" listing. Many of the people having this problem had not installed any new software...the problem just appeared from nowhere. The following might help.

Did you by chance use the registry tool in CCleaner?

I ask as since my Roxio corrupted I have been keeping an eye open for complaints regarding players and burning software failures due to corrupt/missing .dll files. I have seen a few which have "claimed" that the tool identified needed files as unnecessary and removed them from the aforementioned application categories.

Unfortunately this was not the cause of my concern so I am still on alert for a possible cause.

HRR2162TDA, will not drive. Belt is good, cable engages transmission but wheels do not turn. Wheel gears are good. Seems like transmission is bad? Any thoughts?

The MOPyfish software was originally released in 1997 and is no longer available for download. There is no support available for this product. it looks like there are some exe files available on this site. the mopyfish page mopyfish frequently asked questions answers a lot of related questions however for the supported systems it only lists Win 95, 98, NT try doing a google search for MOPy fish and you can find more info but it is all very old.

Owbist, I think you just fixed my problem. After becoming stuck on the deleting of the temporary files.....I skipped over a couple of steps in the repair kit. I read the part which about when suddenly messages that you sent are no longer being sent to the "Sent Folder". That is exactly what is happening here. The first step to try....was to compact all folders. That fixed my problem! I am no longer sending multiple emails. Sent emails are going to the Sent Folder. Wow.....this is great !! Do you think I should go back and complete the removing of the temporary files even though it seems my problem is solved? Owbist....I cannot thank you enough. This is the best computer help website on the internet. The Computer Help Forum has gotten me out of many jams. I thank everyone who comes to this forum.....and special thanks to all who provide suggestions and solutions. Larry

Old router new computer question

I finally found the Set-Up Assistant CD for the Belkin router. I installed and it had the same name of what I named the router back when I had XP. Towards the end of installation, Belkin was trying to connect to the Internet and it couldn't, providing me with a knowledge base of questions and answers and a Belkin Support phone #. However, I noticed my Vista laptop in the other room was able to connect with a perfect signal. I called Belkin, got a man who I couldn't understand, I tried, through, but when he was wanting to start exploring my computer I declined. I called my ISP and they wanted to charge me $69 because it was a router they didn't support. In the past, whenever my computer wasn't acting right I've always rebooted. Well, I rebooted this time and now everything is working perfectly. I think I'm going to email Belkin and let them know that this may help alot of people, a simple reboot after installation.
