Well, good for you! I am so very happy, not only because you are spending time with a nice person but also because this will give you the confidence you need to get back into the world.

I think shared experiences help people to connect. My sister died of cancer at age 51. Her husband remarried after ten years. The woman he married was a neighbor whose husband also had died of cancer around the same time. They have children about the same ages, who even had gone to the same schools.

It would be great if he turns out to be "the one". Even if he doesn't, at least you've got someone to smooch for awhile. I'm happy for you.

Yay Lori! I am so happy for you. Have fun, don't worry about the big picture, just enjoy. Now, does he like interesting foods, or do we have another "Mr. Picky" on our hands?

Jessy, you are so bad. I was just "entertaining" myself a couple days ago with the Stepfamily forum. Especially the threads about a dress? I presume those folks go there because they need a place to vent. The happily meshed families aren't looking for an outlet, I hope.

Anyway, some of the things I said...

First of all, Jim, congratulations. I'm happy for you. I know you've been through alot too and it's nice to hear things are getting better for you.

Annie, no I haven't cooked for him yet. But get this...he's cooking for ME tonight at his house! I'm bringing dessert (a BAKED one, people...I know what you're thinking!) Anyway, how cool is that? And no, he's not picky at all.

Lindac, yes, as a matter of fact, he does have an older brother, but my guy got all the charm ;) (can you believe I just said "my guy"?)

Sally, if you knew his last name, you'd realize how screaming hilarious that really is!!

We haven't told any of the kids about each other yet. I'm planning on doing that within the next few days I think. I want to tell Bob's brother and my stepsons first. That just seems like the right thing to do.

And by the way, I'm staying away from the stepfamiles forum, lol. I've been blessed in that department and although it's probably good entertainment, I'd much rather live with my own experiences and be thankful for them. I don't ever want to go to the dark side!

We talked the other day until 3 in the morning. I missed him as soon as I hung up. I save his voice mails and listen to them over and over again. Same with emails and texts. My cheeks hurt from smiling. It's pretty pathetic, lol. We've agreed we are both acting like teenagers. So what!

gbism, thank you for your thoughts. Very sweet of you. For you and the other new people who don't know me, I used to hang out here quite often. I spent time here because I love to bake and was learning lots about cooking, which i wasn't very good at.

On December 14, 2007, my husband of almost 18 years had a massive heart attack at only 58 years old. I tried to perform CPR, but nothing worked. I was 40 at the time and we had 3 kids, 14, 12, and 6 yrs old.

This forum, literally, saved my life. They checked in on me daily, called, and gave virtual hugs when I needed them. They cried with me and encouraged me to get out of bed and put one foot in front of the other every day.

I haven't been back much becuase I'm so extremely busy with the kids, work and taking care of the house. I don't cook or bake nearly like I used to.

So, although I don't know you, I thank you for your thoughts. I take each post on here as a step forward in my journey towards healing.

So, Jim, I gave up some gossip...whatchya got?

Lori, I am soooo happy for you! And Jim too! You both deserve to be happy.
And Lori, someone that makes you laugh, someone that you can talk to is just perfect, but for him to be a good kisser too...whooee! Bonus!
I can't wait to see how this all turms out.

Oh, Lori! I'm so glad to see how well things are going for you. He sounds great :) My brother-in-law lost his wife very suddenly Dec. 27th 2007 and has also just started dating someone. It's a good thing to see people find happiness after such a devestating loss. Keep us posted :)
