Convection microwave cannot be closer than 2 feet from oven!?!

Speed Cook oven vs. Convection/Microwave
Comments (29)First I work in a deli and use a high speed commercial Blodgett convection ovens also use induction ranges. I cook at home every Sunday a large enough meal to feed 4 for the week, even though my daughter is as thin as a toothpick my son more then makes up for it (now 6.4" about 240) I've had the advantium for close to 20 years at home, my first was the 120v. It was a nice speed cook, a little weak microwave (only 900w) but general cooking times were much faster then conventional/ convection oven, especially casseroles, lasagna, scalloped potatoes etc... worked great! My oven was the Jenn-air, but I found to be too much to deal with cleaning to use any of the accessories Grilling frying etc, so it was really a waste of money in my new home I just have a convection oven with my Advantium. When I moved I added the Advantium 240v. even faster cooking, 1100w microwave & many more auto selections. I use my toaster oven for pizza, comes out a little better and my toaster oven is also convection so only takes a few minutes longer. The only time I use my lower oven is for holiday cooking turkey, or large roast, but even a roast alone I just use the Advantium in convection, I'll sear in large pot w/shortening, then convection in Advantium. The Advantium will sear but hot oil is faster method, and wont start cooking the meat, also searing gives off a lot a splatter. Same for steaks the splatter not worth it, a mess to clean, I just sear in pan on stove then auto cook in Advantium. I'm about to replace my Advantium (mines getting worn out). I am having the 24 inch deep tall cabinet (existing, to be modified for the new ovens) pulled out 5 inches from the wall to match the 29 inch deep run of cabinets that I am considering having custom made for that wal. That should allow plenty of space behind that cabinet. Which leads me to another question for gizmonike. Does the supply and plumbing run in the back of your cabinets? My potential cabinetmaker said he would make deeper drawers to go with the deeper cabinets, but perhaps I should just use 24 inch cabinets and pull them out to leave a 5 inch space behind for plumbing between the steam oven and the sink? How much depth is needed for the plumbing? I believe that there is probably 2.5 inches between the back of the drawers and the back of the cabinets; is this enough for the plumbing to run inside the cabinets?...See MoreNeed help selecting a convection microwave or speed oven
Comments (13)Paulysutherlin: Sharp 930. We've had of the same model, 2 houses, custom shelf mounts and dimensions have not changed so easy to trade out an old for a new. First one was a pleasant surprise and we stayed with them. Uses: usual micro defrosting, cooking veggies and other frozen foods), for convec uses are baking and roasting (cookies, pies, meats--usually chicken and meatloaf). The dual mode uses convec heat and lower levels of microwave power, good reheating stuff with a crust that you don't want to get soggy and speed cooking bakes and the like. Replaced a lot of cooking we previously did in range ovens--faster preheat and less heat in the kitchen. Also is good backup as second oven. The space is larger than most traditional micros and it has two levels for stacked dishes. Inside is SS so a little scrubbing and attention to keep clean, I wouldn't do much that is greasy and spits like bacon, but stuff like skin-on chicken breasts are fine. Comments (19)I love the huge oven cavity that my Bluestar 30" has ... and I honestly have a need for that large cavity once every few years. It's one of those "when you need it, you really need" it things. But that need doesn't happen all that often. In our current remodel, we are getting a Miele CSO and a Miele Speedoven; those are only 24" wide. I expect that, like everybody else in this forum, I'll use them much more frequently than the big oven. If you never cook for really large groups of people, I could definitely see you be OK with smaller ovens. And from what I can tell, it's not as if a 30" wall oven was small. I do have to caution you though that it doesn't look as if the Samsung oven is an actual combination-steam-oven. Instead, it looks to me as if it is a regular oven that has a steam injection feature. That's a lot more limiting. Please read up on the difference before making a decision. Also, while I don't know anything else about this particular model, this forum is generally somewhat negative on Samsung appliances. They don't really have a great reputation for reliability right now. I wouldn't know whether that applies to their ovens, though, or if it is just their refrigerators that everybody seems to hate on....See Morejuserm5
