Miele Speed ovens vs toaster/convection ovens?
Comments (2)We installed a Miele Speedoven in 2012 and have no regrets. It is in a wall cabinet at counter height and is used all the time. It heats up very fast for baking allowing us not to use our 36" oven when not needed. It microwaves, bakes, and broils with all types of combinations of those heating choices. The drawbacks are the price and you need a 220v line to power it. The quality is excellent and have not seen another oven that can do what this does....See MoreConfused...difference between convection microwave vs. speed oven
Comments (8)"Does the term convection microwave mean a regular microwave w/ a fan so the cooking is slightly faster and more even. If this is the case, then food could still come out chewy?" We have the Sharp 930 (which as mentioned above appears to be identical to the Dacor) and along with straight just convec, there is a 30% micro power/convec and a 10% micro power/convec option. Have used both for basic roasting like chicken breasts and it has worked fine (you can tier the speeds such to cook at the higher setting to start and then step down to the 10% setting to keep food from cooking too fast). We use the mixed most for faster, more even defrosting and for heating up leftovers. One downside, the broiling setting is sort of a hoax--just runs it at a high heat setting. Overall, we like it very much....See Morespeed oven vs microwave with convection
Comments (6)Speed ovens can combine microwaving and baking to cook food faster but still tasting more or less baked/roasted. I have had a GE advantium and now have the Bosch. I rarely used the speed cooking function in the advantium and use it in the Bosch even less--to be honest, I'm not sure why I got the Bosch speed oven this go-around. I think I figured the extra cost vs a microwave with convection bake wasn't aaallll that much more. I think the advantium is better than the Bosch. The Bosch has a very limited number of programs and no ability to program it yourself. I got the Bosch because I needed an undercounter installation this time and the higher powered advantium did not allow that. If you think you really will use the speed cooking function, I suggest researching how many programs are available and whether you can program it yourself. Comments (19)I love the huge oven cavity that my Bluestar 30" has ... and I honestly have a need for that large cavity once every few years. It's one of those "when you need it, you really need" it things. But that need doesn't happen all that often. In our current remodel, we are getting a Miele CSO and a Miele Speedoven; those are only 24" wide. I expect that, like everybody else in this forum, I'll use them much more frequently than the big oven. If you never cook for really large groups of people, I could definitely see you be OK with smaller ovens. And from what I can tell, it's not as if a 30" wall oven was small. I do have to caution you though that it doesn't look as if the Samsung oven is an actual combination-steam-oven. Instead, it looks to me as if it is a regular oven that has a steam injection feature. That's a lot more limiting. Please read up on the difference before making a decision. Also, while I don't know anything else about this particular model, this forum is generally somewhat negative on Samsung appliances. They don't really have a great reputation for reliability right now. I wouldn't know whether that applies to their ovens, though, or if it is just their refrigerators that everybody seems to hate on....See MoreSparklingWater
