Wok & waffle griddle usage on Induction cooktops?

DW announced recently that we should replace our 1980's Kenmore electric range. I agreed readily because I have had to replace a heating coil or burner control unit every 2-3 years and the timer /clock gave up the ghost years ago.

In our prior home we had a 1940's gas Wedgewood and we could use a wok or a cast iron waffle griddle (flips over) over a gas burner. If we could use those two items again on an induction range DW might be willing to go spend the extra $$$. Gas is not an option.

Are induction wok adapter cradles available or will close proximity of a regular wok bottom on it's ring be good enough?

Can our cast iron waffle griddle that sits on a 5" high cast iron ring that is about 9-10 inches in diameter get heated enough to cook waffles?

I'm not quite clear on whether induction heating requires direct contact or not. I know our cast iron frying pans and casserole pots will be fine. Revere copper clad stainless steel pans will not work based on the magnet test.

Speak up if you have the answers for this Induction neophyte.
