bertazzoni gas/induction cooktop
Comments (0)I can't seem to find any reviews on the Bertazzoni pm363i0x cooktop with both gas and induction burners. Can anyone contribute here? I currently have gas. The cooktop will go into an island that is on a slab, so I don't know about electric supply challenges. Does it need 240v? I'm a bit concerned about dimensions, and I don't have a place to see one in person anywhere near here. I'm wondering if there's enough space to have both an extra large stockpot and a large frying pan going simultaneously. I can't find any images other than top view and the installation manual. How large a pot can the induction plate accommodate? I gather there's a hight difference between the induction plate and the gas grates which could prevent a large pot to be placed there. Or? http://www.ajmadison.com/cgi-bin/ajmadison/PM363I0X.html My next search will be for a hood that can go over an island. Is seems that the Bertazzoni hoods are for wall mounting, right? Here is a link that might be useful: http://www.ajmadison.com/cgi-bin/ajmadison/PM363I0X.html...See MoreInduction/Gas cooktop question
Comments (2)Anne, I saw your previous but didn't answer because I don't know much about the hybrid units except that they're mostly designed for difficult places to live where both the electricity and gas delivery are iffy. You're in a similar situation with the electricity, of course, though your propane deliveries are probably pretty reliable. You can light most gas cooktops with a match or lighter (a pistol style lighter, or any kind with a long nose, is a safer choice). I have 24" (Gaggenau) induction, which has a similar configuration to the Wolf, and the 15" Wolf 2 burner gas under a 48" hood. There's about 4" between the two. Big enough for a spoon rest and the pepper grinder. You could certainly make it wider. You'd have to ask Wolf how close together they could be. Modular cooktops usually only need about an inch because they have a piece that links them together. I don't know if it would work with the 24" induction, though. It may require a more secure side brace. It's worth making sure that it's secure enough to handle big heavy pots. I like my Wolf gas cooktop. It has a medium and a small burner. I find them adequate. But I have the induction for more high powered cooking. I mostly use the induction. There are a few things I prefer gas for, and I use it when I need more burners. When we have had power outages, they've been local (less than 1000 houses), so it has been wiser to go hang out where there's power, a few miles away, than open the fridge and letting out the cold air. The food is good for at least a day if you don't open the fridge. I did light it once with a lighter, though I forget why. Maybe it was an outage. Perhaps we were making tea. I wouldn't want to do all my cooking on it. It's a small space. But for a few days here and there, and for meals rather than artistic expression (i.e., stew not crepes), it should be fine. It's a heck of a lot better than a camp stove!...See MoreBertazzoni Gas + induction or Wolf 1 module of gas and 1 of induction?
Comments (5)Why not the Wolf 24" induction and 15" gas? I have that setup though my induction is Gaggenau which I had sent from Europe with all the attendant rigamarole because there were no 24"s here at that time. I don't know anything about the Wolf induction, other than that they make it, so you'd have to check the power, element sizes and arrangement, and controls suit you. Do they have a 24" gas, to flip the numbers? I use the induction much more, though I expected to use the gas more than I do--part of that is using ovens more, though, since I do all my vegetables in the CSO. Hm... Just thought of that! I keep the kettle on the gas. I put the kettle on the induction to boil the water. :) The Wolf 15" gas is a little weird. I hesitated on the shape, but find the burners more than adequate, and everything else about it fit my limitations best. It's one small and one medium burner--does that work for your copper? An alternative, if budget isn't an issue, is the Gaggenau Vario 400 series of 15" dominoes. The controls are on the cabinet apron, so you can make the whole installation look like a rangetop if you want. There's a ton of power and flexibility there. I was about to buy them six years ago when there was a huge price change. That setup would have been squeezing the space, so it worked out better anyway, though I occasionally miss some fancy schmancy features I had to give up. They're really fab if you have the space and money for what you want....See MoreWolf Induction Cooktop vs. Wolf Gas Cooktop??
Comments (26)I saw the newest Wolf induction cooktop and I was impressed with its versatility. Specifically, I am speaking of model CI365T/S. I really like the burner layout with the four burners that can be bridged on one side and a larger oval burner on the other side. It offers what seems to be the most flexible layout. There are other induction cooktops with "flexible" zones but they are in a layout that is less versatile, most commonly with a large round hob in the center and the flexible zones on either side. My building does not have gas so when I upgrade, I will be looking at induction. As of now, I think the Wolf is my favorite but I am a year or two out and something new may change my thinking....See MoreBill Johnston
