printer not printing since update

Hi,

I'm running Windows 7 Home premium and just had an auto update to IE9 . Since then, something seems to be constantly running in the background and my printer does not seem to be getting my commands. Sometimes it prints, and sometimes not,; it may print after turning off and restarting the computer, then printing several pages at once. I'm not very adept at figuring these things out.....stumped !

Uninstall the printer and then reinstall.

The problem isn't with your computer so reinstalling the software will not help. Unplug the printer from the wall and the computer. Remove any paper. Get a flashlight and have have a good look around for a remaining debris of paper. Reload the paper and plug the printer back in. Does it make the "normal" noises? Print a self test page (from the printer itself, not the computer). I think with this model is done by holding down the resume button for a few seconds. If it works, then plug the printer back into the computer and try printing. If it doesn't, something is likely damaged. You can try the forums over on fixyourownprinter.com. I think the back to front or front to back is not the problem. I wouldn't care what prints first since I don't do much text printing.........The problem is HOW to not print the sample label in PayPal. I had to buy 2 shipping labels today. It did it again, twice, including that 3rd print page with the upper instructions on how to print the label. I've looked through the options, but it is not going to tell me how not to do Sample label printing. I removed the printer and added it again and it works great only it didn't solve the label problem. I have also googled for a fix, but no one seems to have run into this problem. I have had this printer for a long time. I bought it with my XP and now I have W 7. AM I READY FOR A NEW ONE?

maybee, I'm probably grasping at straws, but I have an HP Laserjet P1006 that stopped printing when it ran out of paper, leaving documents in the queue. Since you are probably as desperate as I was, I'll pass on what worked for me. I know it sounds silly. :) These are the instructions that I found: Raise the lid of the print cartridge area 5 times all the way up and all the way down and it will print a page with hundreds of tiny horizontal lines. After that was printed, the queue was cleared and it printed again. Just a thought and I hope it works for you.

HP usually has a "un-install" feature on the install disc. (Every HP printer I have ever had needed to be un-installed via the install disc. or it may come with the un-install in their program menu.) When I messed up an HP printer un-install and tried to re-install I had to call support and they had me put the disc in and run the un-install via the disc twice to make sure I cleaned everything out. Then I just installed it again without any problems. You might try that if all else fails.
