Miele Oven Temperatures - Please Check Yours
Comments (58)I'll keep the Miele temperature issue current for 2016. I have a Miele H4890BP2 (MasterChef 48" double oven) and have had it in operation for about 6 years. From the start it has *never* worked properly. Unfortunately, I assumed for the first 2 years that the temperatures were correct as shown on the display, and that the issues with baking were my fault. After putting good oven thermometers in both ovens, I realized that the oven temps were not at all what the ovens were displaying. After about 30 minutes to reach temperatures, the actual temperatures are always 25-50 degrees below the display temp (not to mention the "reached temp" alert beep occurs within 5 minutes. However, for the past year, only the bottom oven heats and maintains temperature. The top oven will heat to a maximum of 325-375 and within 15 minutes stops heating entirely. It shows no fault messages, and the display indicates that it is still attempting to heat...it just goes cold despite the display declaring that it is preheating. BTW, the Miele installer (who no longer sells Miele) did not set the voltage to the proper US setting--something I only knew to check after reading these boards! There is no Miele authorized service provider in my area and every other appliance repair people I've called all have refused to work on Miele ovens! I finally sent an Email to Miele about two weeks ago and have not gotten a response. It's incredibly disappointing to say the least to have paid this much for an appliance and it never work properly, and then be unable to find a local service provider. Especially horrifying is that Miele clearly must know that there was and is an issue with these ovens but have not been proactive and/or responsive to customers who own these ovens. This is not at all what I expected when doing business with Miele....See MoreMiele Owners Pls Help! New Miele DW has terrible odor!
Comments (34)I pulled the filter and checked mine last night. There is water like yours and there was some small bits of food particles. Did not smell. Although It finished running a load about 18hrs before. I can't test the two day thing since it pretty much always has dirty dishes in it. When there is dirty dishes in it obviously will have an odor that will build over time. I scrape but do not rinse my stuff. Wasn't as hard to break the habit that we had with rinsing the dishes since we were without a DW and sink for like 8 months for my remodel so it was like starting over :). I just started using the DW a few weeks ago. I have started using Miele Tabs and using 1/2. No rinse aid or salt. I have a whole house water softener and I just tested the water again and its at like 2 grains vs 28 without the softner. Kas, You use Tabs and rinse aid. I thought based on the directions that rinse aid should not be used with Tab detergents? I set the unit to not dispense any rinseaid. I do get white spots on silverware, plastic and glasses. Not sure I should add rinse aid....See MoreMiele Classic vs Miele Crystal
Comments (12)It turns out that the Crystal was $100 more than we expected. Then after we paid for it, it turned out you couldn't just buy the cutlery tray you had to switch a version that needed the panel which then boosted the price considerable. So we canceled the order. Then we found they billed the card and the money stayed in suspense for almost 2 weeks. This was $1424. Sigh. So far the Miele Classic with the cutlery tray in black makes the most sense. We almost had a La Perla for $1695 but it was in stainless. Just for the record I'm doing most of the dishes by hand. Since I pulled the dishwasher (and wired up a socket) we had no draining racks the VDW got me a draining rack ! It's curious I'm starting to wonder why we need a dishwasher. I only wonder about the latch on the Classic. One I saw wouldn't close another was hard to close. Still, it seems like it's adjustable. Larry...See MoreMiele/Monogram/other--- your opinions, please
Comments (17)Agreed, Miele customer service is superb. At the moment I'm not as happy of a camper on my 6 yr old Miele DW, because it's going to be out of service until Tues until the tech has time to come back. Why aren't I pitching a fit? Because their techs are superior to anyone you've ever had in your home. THey could send a "factory authorized tech" sooner, but I wanted the real McCoy. He came yesterday following a long telephone conversation with the tech team, to see if he could adjust the water intake valve because I'm getting increasing errors when I try to use the sink when the machine is filling. they had great online records of my previous calls and suggested a tech come and visit. I'm probably paying for it (it looks like it was our plumbing problem) but competency is so worth it! The tech stopped, told me that we needed to replace this valve, spoke to the plumber on the phone for me to describe exactly what was wrong and said that after a call to dispatch he would be rescheduled. Unfortunately he's a busy guy so w/o a cancellation I'll be waiting until Tues. There's only the 2 of us, so we'll wait. Sigh... OTOH, the extended warranty tech for my KA 42" Fridge just left for the 3rd time over a door hinge. He was late in arriving and has to return for a 4th time with yet another part! There's a big difference in these two companies!!!...See Morerococogurl
