Miele Classic vs Miele Crystal

We are ready to buy:

The choice is between a Miele Classic or Crystal.

Both would have the cutlery tray.

My wide wants black to match the rest of the kitchen.

The Crystal has in addition to the Classic (copied from another post):

* Q2 sound rating instead of Q1

* Flexicare Plus rack system (a few more moving parts)

* Delay start feature

* Perfect Glasscare

* Water Softener

* Turbo mode (not available in the G5175SCSF) This increases the spray pressure and temperature to decrease the Pots and Pans, Normal, and SaniWash cycles up to 30%. Great feature for entertaining.

* China & Crystal. Do not wash your expensive china and crystal in any other dishwasher. Miele has found that temperatures of 120ð F are detrimental to china with gold, silver, or platinum etched into them; and leaded crystal. You wonâÂÂt have to worry about losing the metals on your china and your crystal wonâÂÂt get cloudy when using this cycle. It is a long cycle, but very worth not doing them by hand!

Since our water seems to be fairly soft (between 0 to 3 grains) does the water softener has any purpose ? I wonder how long the resin exchange column lasts.

The crystal is $200 more about the same price as a maintenance contract.

Anyone have any input to push this decision one way or another ?
