But it also includes IE8. Did you get it?

MyDD just redid my computer, stripped it down & reinstalled everything so it is fast again. She said IE8 has a lot of problems & she didn't want it on here. Her hubby is an expert on computers as his job depends on it.

I posted a thread about IE8 coming through updates just do a search for it lots of good info on it about IE8 and the differences between it and earlier versions, it is a security update and more secure.

I did have some problems with IE8 when I downloaded over a month ago. I am going to assume (heh, heh) that they have the bugs worked out and I can safely get it. I notice it is named IE8 for XP. I don't have Office, but do have Power Point Viewer 2007, and there is an update for that, which I intend to get.

But before that was posted, I did (or thought I did) DL the update. Now it is nowhere to be found. Not in the tray or desktop or add remove. No mention of it anywhere I can see. Nothing has changed and I was not prompted to restart.

Everything is running normally so guess I'll leave well enough alone, but can't help wondering where it went.

Thanks for all the info. I decided to skip IE and took all the other ones. I never use IE anymore so I'm not terribly worried. Seems to still have bugs. I'll wait.

I also took the other update and decided not to install IE8 for now since I use it only for MS updates.

Sometimes I don't know why users have problems with certain tasks and why some seldom do. Who knows?

I went old school on the IE8 update on this Vista system as I am on the antique DUN and didn't want to download it more than once.

After backing up my Quicken I cleaned up the system with CCleaner and some of the tools provided in Advanced System Care. I disabled my AVG and Vista firewall then connected to the update through the Windows Update utility.

No problems donwloading, installing or using.

And yes I, enabled my AV and firewall again.

I think from what I have been reading the most issues are for those that run spybot tea timer and immunize and spywareblaster and some other similar programs and also some reports of problems with WOT conflicts. But reading the info and the advisories prior to doing the install should eliminate much of the problems. I personally have not tried yet just don't have the time right now, packing seems to be the priority these days.
