E-mail problems.

My desktop is out, being serviced. I plugged in this old laptop, that hasn't been used in years. I can gst the internet part to work OK, but I can't get the e-mail part to work, because since I last used it, I switched from an Earthlink connection to a Verizon FiOS connection, and I don't know where I can find the name of the outgoing server, which is one of the things I need. Can anyone help? Thank you very much.

well you should be able to just go to your verizon online email and access it from there, just put your user name and password in at the verizon site to log into your email account. That is assuming you mean you are using a verizon email account. go to the link below up at the very top click on my verizon enter your account info there

Thanks. Wife is using verizon e-mail. I'm still using Outlook Express, but I don't know outgoing server.

I use Yahoo mail, and all my mail from GW ended up in the inbox except the first ones from CindeeA and Laura1. Those two ended up in my bulk folder. The ones they sent after that came to my inbox. I'm pretty sure that I have gotten every message sent because no one has told me I have mail that isn't there. I sent Kat an email that she didn't get, but she sent me one just fine. I guess that's why it's good to give folks a heads up that they have mail coming. That way we know if it is working or not. Also because I can be a bit absent minded I save all my emails to a text file until I know it was recieved. That way if I have to retype it I don't forget what I wrote in the first place =) Tim

BTW, my computer is an HP h8-1120 2.00 running 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium. I ran Super Antispyware and Microsoft Security Essentials and Malware Bytes and no threats showed up. I turned the computer off for 4 hours; rebooted; and still have the same issue.

Pllog, I think Jeff was just being marvelously humorous! Once you realized you posted to the wrong forum, you said: the "If you don't reply here this thread will sink" I said: "Well it can sink after I shout Yay" And Jeff said: You're having problems with your sink too?" I have t-mobile, I called them up to complain, and they helped me online to completely block emails in "my settings". Since I blocked our e-mail, I still get text from my kids, and DH and NO ONE else. Most of the spam text are actually emails according to t-mobile and not text messages. What really bugs me is why the carriers don't send out a letter with the bill and say this is happening and how to stop it! Kathy

Hi John, just for clarification, Outlook Express is merely a mail client (application that manages your email). The provider would be whatever is behind the @ symbol in your email address...example would be, if your email was johninny@verizon.com then your email provider is verizon. The account will need to be set up in Outlook Express with your user name, password and ingoing and outgoing email servers plus any security settings required by that provider. Not as simple as logging into the webmail as suggested by Raven.

You can find the settings you need on this page. I've never had a verizon account but I don't know why you can't access it by going to this page and filling in your user name and password whithout having to set it up in outlook express.
