Problem with Undelivered Mail

If you have the time to read through this, I would appreciate your help/suggestions.

I read the instructions and at one point it said you do not need to whitelist if that address is in your address book. It is. Sometimes her mail comes through, sometimes not. I don't want to risk making unnecessary changes. Thunderbird has a great spam filter. HP Media Center XPSP2, Thunderbird default email. What do you all suggest? TIA Sue

Just a thought here.

A few years back there were a few viruses that when contracted infiltrated the Addressbook. They would then send out covert e-mails to entries in the Addressbook. One of the variants sent what appeared to be "undeliverable" e-mails. Uninformed and curious users would then open the e-mail thus infecting their own Addressbook and the cycle would begin again, ever expanding.

I am not declaring that this is a virus, but until a resolution is determined I would recommend a full virus scan.

That 550 of the error message says this mail came from a known Spam Domain.

Perhaps some spammer is sending lots of mail from your isp's domain. Or using your domain name, or hopefully not...your computer has been compromised by mr spammer and you are sending out spam without knowing it.

Run your virus programs.

BTW, my computer is an HP h8-1120 2.00 running 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium. I ran Super Antispyware and Microsoft Security Essentials and Malware Bytes and no threats showed up. I turned the computer off for 4 hours; rebooted; and still have the same issue.

My mom ordered a gift that we were splitting for Christmas delivered to her house. The FedEx tracking said it was delivered but it never showed up at their house. It was a $200 GPS so it wasn't trivial. The company that sent it ended up refunding the money but not w/o quite a hastle. I was pretty mad about the whole thing. It was FedEx's fault that it didn't get there but they took no responsiblity because their system said "delivered". It had to be either taken by the delivery man or someone following the FedEx truck around stealing packages. The lesson is to always require a signature.

Marilyn_Sue, As Adellabella and Jasdip said, it's now a two step process. You put your e-mail address in, press enter, then your password. I just hope it doesn't go like Google. I have a work account at Gmail and they put cookies in to force you to have a single sign in, but I don't want to be signed in as work on my personal stuff. It's too much trouble to delete the cookie, every time, so I only check my work e-mail on my iPad. Which is very inconvenient. I sometimes have to work on Google docs on the computer, and then I have to deal with the whole thing. I don't know what people who share a computer do! Yahoo just offered to do a similar combined inbox thing, but it seems to be voluntary. So far. After you sign in, it may prompt you to add a cell phone number. In little blue letters, there's a "skip for now", which you can keep on skipping. At which point, it might dump you on the Yahoo home page. Mail is in the upper right hand corner, an envelope icon with a red bug saying how many new e-mails you have. Jasdip, As to the length of time to draw an e-mail, it's probably a bandwidth issue, especially if you're getting HTML videos with a lot of visual information, rather than text. It can multiply if your computer is older and your display is slower. If it's taking a lot longer to draw than a web page you haven't seen before, it might also be advertising. Remember those awful advertising experiments that they did on us at GW? Sometimes even if you have an ad blocker, you have to wait while the ad doesn't load!

I ran AVG, Spybot, and Housecall. No ptoblems.

I ran AdAware and this is where I got stumped.

299 infections? Yikes!

If I click on Finish I get this message "There are unhandled objects. Do you still want to finish?" I don't know. Do I? What happens if I click YES?

I've never seen this before.

(Also I doubt if I have all the right settings, This version is different from the last one.)

Sue, click on the second tab which has the number 299 showing on it, and it will tell you what these things are. Mostly they are tracking cookies and MRUs, so they are not really malicious. Still, I always choose to delete them.

Grandms, that did it! Those boxes are so blurred I didn't even see that number there.

I guess I want to click Finish now?

But this probably has nothing to do with the e-mail problem.

I use Comcast as my ISP and they have blocked people that I email with a lot as spammers.

They blocked my boss, his secretary, one of the companies I represent (I am a sales rep) and several of my personal friends.

They all had to fill out a form and say they weren't spammers. One of my personal friends has never been able to get unblocked despite filling out the form several times, I've filled it out for her so I know it was right and I also called and emailed Comcast but they insisted her domain sent spam. It was a tiny local ISP in Texas, I doubt it....

Anyway, it can be very frustrating. I get real spam all the time but messages I need can be blocked. They don't go to my spam folder for me to click this is not spam, they just get bounced back with a very similar notice to the one the OP posted.

Very frustrating when these things happen. I guess we just have to consider it all as a learning experience.

I appreciate this forum as I have used it for many years when I get to a point where I can't figure something out.
