MSN e-mail problems

I use the MSN browser for everything including e-mail.

I have a friend that uses Outlook, and everything she sends me is being returned. She can send to every other e-mail address, including my husbands which is also MSN, and it goes through.

I have gone through all the filters, junk mail settings, approved mail, you name it, and I can find no reason why my mail is rejecting hers.

I contacted MSN a few days ago about it but I can't seem to get any help beyond what I have already done.

Is there anything else I can do? I had not changed a single thing on my computer or downloaded anything. She contacted her ISP and they said it is MSN, not her provider with the problem.

HELP!!! I'm going through e-mail withdrawals (we e-mail all day long).

Open an account with Outlook Express until you get your email fixed.If that's what your using now you can delete it and set up a new account.

When the email is returned to the other person what is the reason given? Is it every piece or most of them getting returned?

Have your friend right click on the returned message then click Properties, then Details then Message source. Bring this up to full screen and read down through the message. It seems likely that your server is allowing Spam to go out so her internet provider is blocking that server entirely. Look for the word SORBS - it may also be other companies but SORBS are big into this.

Hi John, just for clarification, Outlook Express is merely a mail client (application that manages your email). The provider would be whatever is behind the @ symbol in your email address...example would be, if your email was johninny@verizon.com then your email provider is verizon. The account will need to be set up in Outlook Express with your user name, password and ingoing and outgoing email servers plus any security settings required by that provider. Not as simple as logging into the webmail as suggested by Raven. Pam

Can we assume both posters use and keep updated programs for anti virus and things like Spybot S&D, Spywareblaster, AdAware, AVG anti malware or similar programs? I think I would run at least one free online scan to be sure I did not have nasties messing my machine about. Here are a couple if you do not have any bookmarked. BitDefender and Ewido. Then send yourself a couple of emails and see if things have improved. While you are working at a fix for this you could consider signing up for a free online (or web based) email account at Yahoo, Hotmail or other service to use. Always a good idea anyway for when web sites demand an email address.

are you using the print email button on your actual email program? Mine will not print properly unless I use the actual button built into the email program. which email program are you using? for example on my hotmail at the top row where it says NEW, Delete, Junk etc there is a small printer icon that is how I have to print the individual emails by using that icon.

If I set up an outlook e-mail (which I've tried and I can send mail through it, just not receive any), do I have to use a whole new e-mail address? I don't want a new e-mail address.

She can receive ALL my e-mails. I jsut can't receive any of hers. They are rejected. So wouldn't it be my e-mail that is rejecting hers as Spam? She contacted her ISP and they said it was MY e-mail with the problem, not hers.

Same computer, different MSN address, e-mails come through just fine, which tells me it's not MSN, it's MY e-mail.

Her email is not being rejected as Spam. What I tried to explain was the possibility that her Internet provider is allowing someone to send out Spam. If that is the case and SORBS are involved they would send the offending ISP a warning, if they heed the warning and close the spammer down all is well. However if they are tardy and fail to act then SORBS acts as an intermediary and blocks everything leaving that particular server.

An internet provider can have numerous servers and if only one is involved in Spam then only that one gets blocked. That is why I asked if every email gets blocked or some.

So.......... why not try this

Until that happens you are not going to know very much for sure.

I guess you checked the blocked sender list.
Tools - Message Rules - Blocked Sender List.

Their are other email servers.
Gmail now allows new email accounts. You have
to Register with Googles.
I registered with Googles but I didn't bother
with Gmail.
