Temporary Handheld Shower for Cleaning?

I would love to find a solution to this problem. We are doing a bathroom renovation on a budget. I have a large soaker tub and a separate stall shower. The most economical plumbing fixtures are the simplest, ie a faucet with handles (no handheld shower) and a shower head that comes out of the wall (no handheld). That's fine. The only time I long for a handheld in the shower or the tub is when it's cleaning time. Throwing buckets of water around the bathroom takes too long and doesn't really seem to do a great job.

What would be perfect would be something temporary that I could use only when cleaning. The rubber hose type attachments that slip over the tub fixture with a kind of rubber sleeve don't get great reviews online -- has anyone tried them and been satisfied? Is there anything similar that can fit over a traditional size shower head? How do you clean your tub or shower if you don't have the flexibility of a long hose to wash and rinse? Thanks for all your ideas in advance!
