Handheld Shower

Has anyone switched from a fixed shower head to something like this? Does it work? Does the metal hose part drive you crazy? All of our fixtures are Moen Satine, I don't think that color exists anymore, so I would need a trim kit plus the new shower head. First world problems...the cleaning team is borrowing my socks and driving me nuts complaining about how she gets soaked cleaning our large shower. My solution was a bucket and water which is how I do it, she wasn't amused.

Ours offers both options - two pieces. It was very useful when my late husband was ill and needed a chair in the tub - he could still bath himself.

I put a combination tub filler and handheld in my tub for the same reason - may someday need it.

Yes, we did switch in our condo. I have always liked hand-held better than fixed shower head anyway. In our main residence we have both fixed and hand-held in all 3 bathrooms, but decided to go with only hand-held in the condo. I like to control the amount of water that falls on me. Can also be used in place of a bidet to wash a targeted area of the body.

I'm having the Moen Twist put in as the handshower in our hall bath. This is after experiencing it in the shower of a resort/cabin place near Capitol Reef National Park. The handshower is a bit ugly but it there is one setting which is amazing when you turn it on its side. The other narrow side setting is pretty good too and the flat sides are just ok but not the greatest (probably about as good as one can expect from a less than 2.0gpm fixture). There will also be a fixed head in this shower which is why I can get away with using the Twist (I would never use it as my main shower head). I'm buying it basically for 2 of the 4 settings it has and maybe I'll occasionally use the other two settings for a more "gentle"/wimpy shower experience. I'm putting it on a Hansgrohe slidebar though because IMO the moen slidebar is just as ugly as the handshower and everything else is going to be hansgrohe. The plumbing supply person said she thinks the moen will fit on the hansgrohe slide bar. If not, I'm going to get my option 2, which is the hansgrohe croma c 100 which isn't as attractive as my mom's hansgrohe raindance s 150 but IMO has slightly better settings. I think I tried all the hansgrohe handshowers out at the plumbing supply store. (It appears though that the croma c and raindance s both only go as low as 2.0gpm. We have the 2.5gpm models.) In the basement I have just a handheld and it's this 2.5gpm Waterpik. I don't think anything beats the Waterpik except for the amazing setting on the Moen Twist. This is the amazing setting on the moen twist which to me makes it worth it even though it's somewhat ugly and low gpm:

It all depends. First thing needed would be physical access to the plumbing under the tub deck. With adequate access a plumber should be able to modify or if necessary replace the faucet set to get what you want. The Passport Ensemble looks to be the jacuzzi tub only, not the faucets, and appears to be out of production, only a few spare parts appear to be available. BTW, only one picture shows up.

Thanks for all the input everyone! So I think I made some decisions. I bought a handheld showerhead from Hammerhead showers. They are all metal, under $100, look nice and get good reviews. I’ll just have the showers plumbed with a regular showerhead pipe and then install the hand held showerhead as the main/only shower head. For my son’s bathroom, I bought this suction cup handheld showerhead holder that we can place lower down for him. It was $15 on Amazon. I just need to find a tub spout and shower diverter now. When we remodel, the horizontal bar won’t be there any more.

"anyhting(sic) that could fall into a "pool" of water" Like a kitchen sink hose wand? lol Like a garden hose on an outside hose bib? Try googling and find a hand held shower faucet that comes with a back flow preventer? (You can find backflow preventers separately - Anyone Own One of these? lol )

We have both options, but I will never have a tub or shower that doesn't include a hand held spray. Ours has been used for pets, grandchildren and illness. If you're only going to have one or the other, opt for the handheld. I don't think you'll regret it!

I have a small fiberglass shower in one of my bathrooms and have only a handheld. The hose is a non-issue. It's so much handier than a fixed head for rinsing down the shower when cleaning it and for rinsing down you body, too! Sometimes I want a shower without a hair washing and it's perfect in that situation, too.

We have a showedhead like that in one bathroom. I love it when I'm cleaning the shower and can take it off and spray everything down. It's also really useful when I'm washing the dog.

I have a similar setup in my bathroom too and I love it, cannot imagine not having a handheld shower! They also offer similar showerheads that have a rainfall attachment. Simply spectacular!

We had a shower disaster shortly after we moved in which involved the bottom row of tiles and floor being removed 2x. I really want to avoid having to mount anything additional to the tile because I know if there is an issue we are in trouble since we have 0 spares. Can you guys show me what you have?
