Danielles, My first questions would sound a bit like this......What kind of orchid is it? Where are you located? Where are you growing the plant? (inside, or outside) What culture conditions are you growing it under? (temp., light, water, fert., etc. etc. Arthurm is absolutely correct (above post), but if you have something other thn a Phalaenopsi, with this basic information help could be much more specific. Orchids are tough old "birds", so my guess is that the situation is not terminal, but we don't want it to get there either. Bill

I don't see why sunlight would have affected the roots. anyway, put it in a bright spot (southern window) and just leave it be for a while. Since most or all of the leaves have died, it's going to be using very little water. That said, cut way back on watering. Do not fertalize either. just give it time and it'll probably put out some new growth. Leaves that are grown indoors can't just be placed in full sun. They're not used to that. You need to slowly acclimate the plant if you want it grown in full sun. New leaves that do grow in full sun will not burn as they'll grow already acclimated to the higher light levels.

The mower guy has been. It took us longer to admire his new truck than it did to fix my mower. You won't believe it: he lifted the "bonnet", put his hands on the plastic cover (fan shield?) on top of the motor, gave it a slight turn anti clockwise, then said "go on, start it now". OMG how stupid do I feel? But he said no, leaving the cutting blades engaged and not knowing why it won't start is stupid - you wouldn't have guessed this one. So thanks everyone, really appreciate your help, my old mower lives another day. So happy!

as to weather.. its be nice to know where you are .. give it a month or two of proper watering.. and lets see if it can come back ... though i agree with flora... it might not surprise me if it did .. if it doesnt.. just get another ... they arent that uncommon ... and then you can still have your memories ... and get a smaller one.. so you can move it in and out of the house easier ... ken
