The best way is to have a qualified service technician, it requires a set of new orifices for the burners oven and broiler. It requires converting the pressure regulator from LP to natural and most of all it requires are shutter adjustments. Also you must snug the fittings not overtighten them causing a leak. I would call Bluestar and have them hook you up with a qualified tech. The floor model still has a full warranty, but not for bad conversion.

Hmmm sounds like it could be expensive. I'll have to get an estimate.

It should not be expensive and does not take much time if you know what you are doing. You have to by the conversion kit plus a half hour labor.

have the retailer you are making the purchase from do it for free as part of the sale.

That way you are not responsible for the cost or possible leaks.

Sold as seen SHOULD only apply to visual damage, and remember your warranty is only 90 days Labor and 1 years parts.

I spoke with the store owner today and he said they would have it converted for me. My concern now is that my house won't be ready until Dec. or Jan. so the range will be sitting idle until that time. This cuts my warranty period in half. It's still a $1,300+ savings though (haven't tried to negotiate yet).

Could repairs even cost that much should a problem arise? Would you folks take the risk?

Is it worth the risk............It depends on the model you are purchasing, how much you are paying, how old it is, is it a shop floor model or a customer return?

Get the serial number and call Bluestar to see if they have any history on this particular range.

An average service call can be around the $150 mark + parts.

sorry to intrude but this seems like a good place to ask, anyone have any idea where or how one would sell a bluestar that they bought in 2005 and never installed anywhere?

Never came boxed and I forget if it is still on the pallet, I think we took it off the pallet it is sitting in my bedroom on Cape Cod at the moment. [ I am not there,but my son is] has a blanket over it, feet and everything else that came with it are still inside the oven. I bought it for a house that had gas then I sold that house and my house now does not have gas so I never got to install it at all.

mccall - Please tell me this isn't the black 30-incher that I recall you raving about in myriad posts???

Call Matt Schutte at BlueStar and explain that the delivery and or hook up won't be until Jan and see if he will allow the warranty to begin then, and if not you will still be entitled to receive the white glove service, so if there are any problems they would be found at that time.

No it is the second one I bought after I loved the first one so much. I got it to put in another house we had and were working on at the time, but then we sold it. The house I have now doesn't have gas at all. I really hate to sell it but putting Gas in there is not a very viable option for us.

Oh that's a bummer. Good luck selling it. I hope you don't take too much of a hit.
