Bluestar oven preheat time- longer with LP?

I've read that the 36" Bluestar oven can take 30 minutes or more to preheat. Will this take even longer with LP? I know the range burners are factory set for LP, but is the oven element cranked up as well? What about the infrared broiler- will power be reduced?

From what I know of the difference b/ LP & NG, there should be no difference. I would not give it a second thought.

Alas, breezy, I'm neurotically unable to make a decision and not revisit it, especially with everything related to this kitchen. Need to medicate.

Our Wolf runs the convection fans and both top and bottom heating units - time to 350 degrees is about 12 minutes.

I know that Wolf uses convection to speed up the preheat and that also helps it stabalize faster. I haven't had a problem with hot spots or inconsistent temps as long as I wait for it to finish heating and don't put something in the second it beeps. In a different oven, I would try using convection for at least preheating and see if that helps with time and even heating. Weissman -- I probably would have thought so too, but there are times that feeding two very active, very hungry teen boys is a lot easier when you don't have to allow another 15 minutes for the oven to heat. Sometimes we don't have the luxury of an extra 15 minutes. Before this oven was changed out, we sometimes made food choices based on whether we had time for the oven to heat. For my baking, it wasn't a problem, but for feeding them it was. Not everyone keeps our kind of schedule, but it has made a difference for us.

I use a microwave convection all the time. I've never considered preheating to be an issue. I might add a few minutes to the overall cook time if I start from a cold oven, but that's about it. I bake potatoes, rolls, etc. I reheat pizza (set to about 375* and wrap the pizza slices in foil, go for about 15-20 minutes). Hotter temps require longer to preheat, but certainly no more (and usually less) than the large oven. It is not a toaster. Toast bread elsewhere. I don't have to wait for it to cool down to use the microwave, but I do some anyway since the interior is hot. I usually use a metal rack to hold food off the bottom and that thing will be hot to remove if I don't let it cool a bit. YMMV.

Its understandable to deliberate such a reasonably permanent decision and its good to make sure you ask everything you can think of. You are looking at a great unit and I have never really heard anyone compain about LP performance in these units or similar ones.

You will find the 36 inch oven a bit of a chore to pre-heat I am willing to bet. Mine was a Wolf and it took a while and I have heard the same from others who had 36 inch ovens no matter the make. That said, it IS NOT that big of a deal. If I had to choose b/t the 30 inch and the 36, it would be the 36 hands down in any model. If I could choose b/t the 36 and 48, given what I know now, it would be the 48 to get the 30 inch oven and the small turkey oven. As mentioned, my last was the 36 Wolf and it was great. This time we went with Bluestar and have not the least of regrets. We would make the same decision again no matter the size. Additionally, I have heard fabulous things abut BSs new white glove service. That would certainly give me additional assurances as well.

No need to medicate,just get your unit in and enjoy it, you should find that will be medication enough.

You know, I really should relax because this is a great range, and in addition to it I will have a Monogram oven stack of an Advantium over a ZET1 (convection) close by. So, when I don't need the capabilities of the 36" BS, I can use those.

I knew about this so I also ordered a 30" wall oven for the times when I need a quick preheat. I guess the extra cubic inches makes a big difference in time.

It is it acceptible to use the massively hot broiler in the Bluestar to get the chamber up to heat, then switch to the 'bake' setting?

Maybe - if it is a slow preheat that you are after.

Infrared Broiler Rating.........15,000 BTU
Oven Burner Rating.............30,000 BTU
