I have read the attached links and I am still confused. I thought I read last year that an outdoor burner was not recommended. I have a glass top range so I need to use something else. I have a turkey fryer burner, a large burner on the propane grill, a two burner stove on folding legs that brings it up to stand-up height and it runs on a propane tank. I have a electric counter top double burner but not a professional one. I have an inside location with a concrete floor that could serve as a temporary canning kitchen and not have the heat and steam inside the house. I would love to fix an area that is perfect for canning, but I'm not quite sure how to do it. The building is a small guest house and has both gas and electricity and I even have a fairly new electric cooktop that I could add, but I think I would rather have a gas stove. By making a few changes, I could probably fit in a small gas apartment range. Natural gas is only a few feet away and so is a 220 outlet that runs a clothes dryer. I live in an area that is prone to ice storms and loss of electrity, and when that happens, we turn on the one gas heater in our house to keep the pipes from freezing, and we move to the other quarters that have gas heat and a gas water heater. We have used the two burner stove (for cooking only) inside and lived in relative comfort but it is really designed for outside. I think I will add a sink that is easy to fill large pots with, like I have in my kitchen, but the sink with have to be small. I will never have enough counter space but can always set up a folding table as a work surface, and I have one small butcher block cabinet that is mobile. A natural gas stove would give me a 'storm backup' without having to bring in the propane cook stove. Last year most of my canning was BWB but that isn't always the case. In the next couple of months I plan to complete this space so I would love to hear your thoughts and ideas. This is a small space, but I think I would like being able to can there instead of having it all over the kitchen. Ideas?

AniaWin, That's why I love GW. You can talk to people that actually have an use the appliances you're considering. I'm personally pretty sensitive to noise. For example, our Kenmore induction range has no fan to cool the oven after use. The induction cooktop fan only turns on when using high heat, and is quiet / unobtrusive enough that I only notice it when it turns on and quickly forget about it. You'd never hear it over a range hood (and if you do, tell me who made your range hood). The convection fan in the oven, on the other hand, is relatively loud and annoying. It turns on when pre-heating the oven and when using any convection settings, and is one of my main dislikes about our range. It doesn't keep me from using the convection settings, but I will turn the oven on using regular Bake so that I don't have to hear the fan once the oven's pre-heated while I finish my prep work, and switch the oven over to Convection Bake once everything's done and ready to go in. I am, admittedly, sensitive to noise. For example, I switched all our bathroom fans out for the quietest I could find, and while they no longer bother me they're still not quiet enough for my tastes.

I have THE ORIGINAL 1989 VGR-48 to sell. 48", 4 burner with stainless steel work surface, DOUBLE OVEN. 12.5" riser/back-guard. Immaculate, clean and in working condition except the Infrared broiler does NOT work. I don't broil so never bothered to have it fixed. Could be as simple as an igniter. Has two new rear burners. Looks new. Has all knobs, just forgot to put one back on after washing. Over the years, have replaced knobs, spider grates and grate supports so those are in great condition. All replaced parts are OEM. One owner. Stove located in Knoxville, TN.

(48" all gas, 4 burners, grill and griddle. If doing it again, i would go with 24" grill and no griddle. It has feet!! That is also extremely important to me. I don't know if I could consider a range without feet. Cleaning underneath is something that is mandatory for me. I am sure my wife would have a massive coronary if she couldn't clean underneath(I actually may as well). My Viking before this also had feet which was a deciding factor in that purchase. >3. Different size burners? If so please explain. Standard Bluestar arrangement. 2x22k 1x15k and 1x8k simmer. No complaints here, I would probably stick with this arrangement if I was buying now, however BS offers any arrangement you wish. >4. If you have 4 burners only, do you have interchangeable rings?....as in you can use a small pot or a larger on the same burner Any pot can be used on any burner, but with the different sized burners I do occasionally match up size of pot to burner and what I want to achieve. >5. Any issues with the following: Plastic knobs that melt or have cracked, metal knobs/oven handle or any part of the oven door that gets too hot, burners/oven/control panel that stopped working, peeling paint inside oven, rust, noise when oven turns on, clicking of ignitor on high setting, oven door is flimsy or hinges broke, oven door handle loose or broke. Anything else that I missed? No quality issues at all!! Zip!! Parts of the exterior do get quite hot tho. The kick plate in particular seems hot. The handle never ever gets hot. The knobs are metal so no melting and I have never felt them being more than warm. Handle has never been much warmer than room temp. Not sure if the V1 is better for exterior heat. One regular member here has provided a video proving the temps are not all that hot on his V1. >6. Any problems with cleaning the surface? Nooks and crannies that you can't clean out? IMO, the easiest range to keep the cooktop clean. 100% cast iron. It tends to actually look better with age. No self clean option for ovens tho. CC does have this option for those who it is important to. >7. Ball bearing sliding racks in oven? How many? One ball bearing rack. 3 racks in total provided. I only have two in the oven. >8. If oven contains regular racks, are they easy to pull out? No issues >9. Any sharp edges around the oven door or anywhere else? Nothing I have ever cut myself on. >10. Did you have to install a higher volt outlet? Nope. Standard 110v outlet. Should be dedicated non gfi tho. >12. Any issues that haven't been mentioned? Not that I can think of at this time, certainly nothing major. Is there room for improvements? Certainly, every product I think has room for improvement. For example, I would love to see an IR grill and the IR broiler could be bigger. >13. What did you pay for it ( if you don't mind please)? And where did you purchase it? Any issues with delivery? Not really relevant to most people here. I was in the Interior design/Home improvement business, so I got special treatment. I don't think the dealer wanted me posting my price. No problems at all with delivery from BS or the dealer. >14. How is the customer support? Prompt with repair? Cost? Warranty? I ordered a new style door just in case of hinge problems. Delivered promptly without any questions and zero almost 4 years after the range had been ordered. >15. What did you own prior to this? How long? What were the issues if any? Had a Viking 30" before this. Loved the legs, loved the looks. I don't like the looks of the new ones as much. I may place more emphasis on looks than many people, likely due to my interior design experience. Was fun to cook on(not as fun as BS). No real issues. I had their open burner model, but did not like that there was shiny black metal burner bowls. This was hard to keep clean. 100% cast on BS much better. No even close to as good a cooking appliance as the BS. I would buy another BS in a heart beat. The CC is obviously an amazing range too, just probably not for me (no feet on it among a couple of other reasons),but for others it is fantastic. The American range looks great, but the lack of feedback on the net is concerning, and that they are not available in larger than 36" would be a deal breaker for me. Good luck on your search.
