Never "unsubscribe" from any entity you have not done business with or previously "subscribed" to. In doing so would most likely be validating your address for mining activity

Depending on your client or service; message rule, blocking, or declaring it spam is the best way to go.

You really should have at least one "junk" email address. Use this for purchases and signing up for other things. GMail, Yahoo and many others offer free email. Make use of them and keep ads in your primary email at a minimum.

Real spam with malware or from third world operations may be how everyone has described. This seems like a different operation, more a case of just an overly energetic mass marketer. Twenty years ago, this company would be filling your mailbox with junk mail. Today, it's overly persistent emails. Same thing in a different form.

I have always promoted multiple e-mail accounts. Personally I have:

e-mail address for forums
e-mail address for finances; banking, insurance, and investing
e-mail address for family and friends
e-mail address for purchases; on-line and telephonic
e-mail address for sites to register to get full access

Complex? Not really. They are all Hotmail accounts linked to one another so I only have to sign in once if I am away from home, and all configured through the on-board Thunderbird e-mail client at home.

Good advice from DA.

I can get by with two - one for people and things that matter and one for the rest. First one is on my smart phone, second one isn't.

When at a miscellaneous website where an email address is a required entry but I don't want to hear from them, I use mickey@mouse.com. Or alincoln@gmail.com

That particular email account is the account that I direct email to when I order things.

I also have one for websites that require a "signup" - like Gardenweb, etc, and another for my personal correspondence.

I was just trying to clear a bit of the log-jam out of this particular one.

....yea...not so much on that one. They are a legitimate company, but many have fallen prey to their deceptive practices. In particular - re-subscription to magazines that they have requested many times to not get. Once they get your CC number - you are at their mercy.... I have never ordered from them - and I want to keep far away from their business. I fully believe that my address was supplied to them by Provo Craft, another "reputable business" that is starting to do things that are not so special to their customers.

If you find an unauthorized charge that the originator won't reverse, there's no need to waste time with such a loser. Simply call the card issuer to get it handled immediately.

Cardholders are not at risk to pay for unauthorized charges.

There is a potential liability. The maximum is $50.00 per card per incident.

The card holder may be required to complete an affidavit as to complaint of fraud. Some companies may have a few small hoops to jump through, but nothing over whelming.

The burden of proof is on the card holder.

It is not handled immediately, they take your complaint then it has to be investigated and that can go either way.

From your comments, I'd say that perhaps each card issuer follows different practices?

I've had maybe three incidents in the last 20 years. Each charge was reversed with one phone call, no paperwork and no further questions asked.
