breen, I see what you mean...nothing on that form b4 hitting submit. I wonder if that might take you to a next page or something. I did not try it...not having an 'extra' email addy to try my theory. My guess is that after clicking submit there is something else to fill out...if one chooses to. I to see lots of newbies with no email link...but I also see them too with no email link but they do have a garden zone or state abbreviation behind their name. Here is my 'canned' reply to a lot of newbie traders not set up right. Welcome to Garden Web! I thought you might like to know that there is no way to email you they way your preferences are set. I suggest you go to the bottom of any page here and click on 'Member Pages'. then Edit Preferences. Then using the drop down box, set it to show your email addy to Members only. then check the box to allow others to email you via the forms here at GW. That will place a link on your member page so folks can reach you. You might also want to (while you are there) fill in your gardening zone, and your state abbreviation. I for one (and some others too)prefer to trade some things (plants anyway) with members that are maybe 400 miles away, as opposed to 1000-2000 or more. Often if I can't tell where someone is located, I just don't reply to threads started by traders....rather than turning someone down later. Happy gardening and trading! The message you are seeing at the bottom of the email (PLEASE NOTE: The member responding to your post has chosen not to reveal his or her email address. Therefore, you cannot reply to this message via email) only means that you are not able to respond by clicking reply within your email account. However, there is a way to send them a response ... go to their 'My Page' and respond to them from there. Neither of you has to unblock your email address. You do not have to respond via email. If they are set up to be able to receive email, you can respond to them from their My Page the same way they emailed you. (Below the "Message" box) CLICK "save your member profile" button You also have the choice to have your email address revealed or not revealed in your settings. I noticed something that made me change my settings ... When you email someone, if they have their email revealed, GW will automatically show you the person's email address. Just in case any spammers ever come trying to harvest email addresses, I thought it would be a good idea to change my settings. Because I use my real, work email address in GW, not a fake throwaway address. Click the first link below and you will see an example of how you can see that person's email address. Typically, when I send a private message to someone using GW, I include my email address in the body of the message, so they can respond without having to search me out using My Page. But I can still keep my email address private within my settings. Thanks Raven. Setting up the email helped - so easy and works great. I'm having more trouble with the tabs. I went to tools, options and tabs - but no matter what I choose, I can't get the tabs to stay there. I think I'm not quite clear on using them. I noticed that if I have a webpage open, and I click a link within that webpage, then it opens up the newly linked webpage - and retains the original webpage in a tab. At least I think that's what's happening - am I right? But what I was also hoping to do is if I'm on one webpage - say computer forum - and I don't want to close it - but then I want to go to my AOL mailbox - if I click on my AOl mailbox (or any other bookmarked page) - that new page opens - but I get disconnected from the other page I had opened. Is there a way to keep the former page open as well - until I close it - and have it display as a tab? I'm talking about opening up separate websites - not going from within one page and clicking a link to another. When I was using my AOL browser (which I gather is similar to IE), if I had a page opened - and then opened another - they would both be open. I'm assuming that isn't how firefox is set up by default. In which case, is there a way I can set it up like that? I did do the color tabs (I think I was looking on a link you provided in another thread for some cool add-ons and things for firefox). It's the only plugin or add-on that I got from the beginning bc.
