We have a 42" 600cfm EPH18 Euroline Pro over our 36" 6-burner Bluestar rangetop. We have the 24" depth one. It does a great job of sucking everything up, but in retrospect I think it would have been a good idea to go with the 27" depth. I say this because the lights and controls are mounted under the front edge, so when I cook smokey things up front, I have to use the hood on high to be sure to pull the steam in past the lights. I suspect if I had gotten the deeper one, I could get away with running the hood at a lower speed in those same conditions b/c the lights would be 3" further out, so the steam wouldn't bounce off of the lights.

Be sure to get a model with halogen lights so you'll get the SensaSource feature. This gives you a lower speed which is quieter to use, and gives you more intermediate settings when used with the second blower. The SensaSourse is not available on models with flourescent lights.

we have 600cfm VH Nouveau Pro over 36" AG Wolf, 27"X42". I like the 27" depth and no head bumping. Also, the 27" can have warming lights which we use all the time. It gets just about everything.

I have been patiently waiting on my 600 CFM VAH in 42" on backorder. My GC told me that now they say at least 3 more weeks.

I am looking for an alternative tomorrow because the job needs the hood onsite.

gabeach, wow - I'm sorry to hear about your backorder problem. My remodel is scheduled tentatively for September. I've met with a KD and have some appliance choices made.

Beside the VAH specifics, I need to select a dishwasher. I think I'm going with the Bosch Integra, but don't know which series to buy. My goal is to have things nailed down by the end of the month so we can proceed with the cabinet order.

You will have an easier time, because you only need a 36". I think my 42" requirement is what caused the delay.
I have had Bosch before. Very quiet. This time, I am going back to KA because I am getting 2 drawers, one on each side of the sink. I am tired of bending.

Ours is mounted about 29 1/2" above the cooking surface, although the range itself is about an 1" higher than usual due to cabinets. I'm 5'10" and no head bumping (the rounded front edge on the nouveau pro is sort of a backup safety feature). Before fixing the height of the hood we had the crew hold it at different height levels to get it as close to the 30" as possible. Most people seem to lean forward a little while cooking which reduces their relative height vis a vis the hood. Hope this is helpful.

Thanks everyone! I like the idea of the 27" depth since I'm not adding 3" on each side of the range with the hood. I couldn't get 42" to work with the cabinet layout.

teachmkt: I hope this doesn't sound too stupid, but how and when do you use the 'warming lights'?

Please note that the heat lamps are not available on any of the Euro Style wall mount VAH's. The terms "euroline", "Nouveau Pro" etc refer to the shape of the hood's rim, not model. Teachmkt must have a different model than the one we were talking about. So you'll have to choose whether you want the chimney style or the warming lights. I know, I wanted both too! But we chose the chimney style.

I got used to IR warming lamps working in restaurants years ago, and use them to warm serving plates, keep just cooked items warm and/or to let juices settle, for tiered cooking for stuff like stirfry dishes where everything isn't cooked at the same time and to finish defrosting or warming stuff to room temperature before cooking. Warming lights don't work as well as warming ovens for holding dishes for longer periods of time.

Instead of a new thread, I was wondering if anyone has any new opinions or pics.

We are purchasing the Wolf 36" AG with griddle and have chosen the VAH wall mount style - EPH18-236, but are waffling on the 24" and 27" depth. I order this week and I haven't been able to find this combination of range and hood in pic or person. It looks like the 24" would work, since the front of the range is 24.5 ". My husband is 6' tall and I'm concerned about the 27" depth being inconvenient for him. Any help is apppreciated.

I went with the 24" deep ZTH model over the Wolf 36 AG with 6 burners and it really looks deep enough. The middle of the front burners is 19 inches from the wall so the coverage for those looks good to me. If I had to do it again, I'd go with a 42" wide instead of the 36" because the lights are on the sides and I think the coverage there suffers more than the front.

Thanks, Cavu. Now I'm leaning toward the 24" - I only stir-fry occassionally. However, I can only go 36" wide. I hope the undercabinet lights on both sides of the range will help with light coverage on the stovetop.

Have you called VAH directly to ask them what they would recommend with your range?? I found them to be extremely helpful when I was trying to finalize my hoodliner decision. Wish I could have ordered direct from them, but...that's another story... Good luck!

I have the 36 inch 900 cfm internal blower Wolf pro wall hood. It does a fine job but anything less than 900 cfm would have been too little. I also have the 27 inch depth and am glad I got it on a number of levels...better capture area, heat lamps etc. I know VAH argues their design is more efficient but 50% more? I doubt it. Also, I like having filter baffles I can clean instead of the VAH cleaning method, not to mention the look of the Wolf. VERY impressive (to me anyway).
