Wolf AG 36-Please Help! Should I change order to include griddle?

Should I get 30' or 36' AG Wolf?
Comments (4)I have the 36" AG. I had no desire for a grill or griddle. I love having the extra room on my cooktop but, honestly, I've never used 6 burners at once and I cook quite a bit. I paired my range with a single electric 30" convection wall oven. I find myself using the wall oven almost exclusively (except for holidays, broiling, and roasting) as the 36" range's cavernous oven takes a good 40 minutes to preheat and you have to plan ahead (I believe this is true with all 36" range ovens). That would be my only negative comment on the 36" range as opposed to the 30". If I had to do it again, I might have gotten the 30" range; I think I would have used my gas oven more often if the preheat was faster. If I was only doing a range with no wall oven, I would have ordered the 48" as I think I would use the smaller oven a lot....See MoreDH and I just bought a 30' Wolf AG ...Will I regret it ?
Comments (8)Ani - I'm one of the ones with the issues w/the Wolf AG range. Chances are you "might" be OK with your new purchase. We, however, are quite glad to be rid of our problematic Wolf and very happy with the new American. That said, if you do have issues, Wolf was very good about servicing (except for the one guy that thought I was crazy) and in the end, did the right thing by buying back the range, in full plus installation. In other words, they stood by the product. I do think though there are still some unresolved issues with the AG ranges that were put in to production for the 2007 year. (mainly because no one could figure out what the problem was and fix it!) If that has been resolved, you should be great for many years! As to your solutions listed above - a - tried on some ranges, didn't completely resolve the issue. b - the riser is not the issue as some have had issues with the taller risers c- the problem was not the regulator but it was replaced anyway. d - gas line - be sure your gas line from street to house, house to range etc meets the standards of Wolf as stated in docs (ours did, but still had problems) If you stick with it, most if not all problems with the ranges I know about were noticeable right off so it shouldn't take you long to see if the burner/oven issues are evident in your range. Comments (1)I had the GE Monogram 48 inch range top with four burners, the griddle and the grill in my house in Utah. I don't have experience with the Wolf. One of the things I liked about the GE was that all of the burners were capable of simmering or full blast. You mentioned that you like to use a wok. The GE Monogram has reversible grills that allow you to use a wok without the need for a ring. We got a good deal on our GE products and also purchased the Monogram hood. It really moves some air. If you are planning to cook with high heat and grease, you should definitely get a good hood to go with your cook top. The griddle is nice. We didn't use it as much as the grill. Living in an area with winter, it was convenient to grill a steak or shish kabob inside. Two of my neighbors in Utah had the Wolf with a downdraft hood. The Wolf is a very nice cook top. Both of my neighbors complained that the downdraft hoods did not exhaust as much of the cooking odors as they would like. I don't think you can go wrong with either cook top. Comments (13)Wekick, cat_mom and nunyabiz1, I thank you all for your response. Nunyabiz1, what a review on the Chef King! Most people, if not everyone, who have them seem to rave about them... My cooktop (the Wolf CT36G/S) have all the burners touching so I do not have any space between my 2 sets of front to back burners like you do (see link below). The dimensions of my front to back burners which I will use are 11-3/4 x 18-5/8, so the 13-5/8 x 22-5/8 would overhang quite a bit in all directions (preventing the use of the adjoining burners) and also not fit in my drawer (which is a good plus). The 14x23 also weighs 7 lbs more than the 12x20... 17 lbs versus 10 lbs and I do not think I will use it every day and keep it on my stove all the time. So far the Chef King is ahead in this race so unless someone can educate me on something better (Nunyabiz1 says no such thing!), it is now just about which size... Anyone have the 12x20 Chef King and can comment on it's size and/or show me a photo of it sitting on a stove or preferably a cooktop where the burners are adjoined? (My little boy asked for pancakes again this morning because, said he, "it's the weekend" - I said no because I knew one-by-one they would take forever and I made them yesterday, Saturday. He knows they take too much time on days when he goes to school. As Nunyabiz1 said, we need BreakFAST, not BreakSLOW so maybe we can even work some in occasionally on school days if I don't have to wait forever to cook them - I know I will need to plan ahead for the pre-heating, etc.).
