Now on direct tv if you click information on a show it has an option for cast and crew which is helpful.

Raven, that would be a good start. I question those facts about casts with movies often although I CAN get up and look it up on IMBD.

But why not have a Smart Remote. It could tag it or answer like Siri does.

Your idea would require interactive tv. The broadcaster would have to build in to transmit the information that would change and have to be recalculated with every minute movement. The tv manufacturer would have to provide the mechanics of recognizing the tag at every dot of resolution and transmit back to the broadcaster. That would be a bandwidth nightmare. Another thought crossed my mind, you might click on a person to see who it is, I might have another interest like who made the suit or bra size. If the program were on a CD, I could see it happening albeit a programming nightmare but CD's are taking the same route as tapes and are on the way out.

An idea...You could log onto the broadcasters web site and search the particular program and they will show you who appeared on the program, etc. You can usually watch streaming video and once the identity is made, drop off the web site.

Thanks for the description of what I would need and your particular interests if sucha remote were possible. I would love to know what mountain that is in the background too. Curiousity = knowledge = understanding and application

However, I heard from an IT guy that a manufacturer has security binoculars that can ID someone on the street. They are not used by police yet and there are legal ramifications. Makes sense that if we can use our fingerprint or retina for identification then those features could be taken before a show and linked to remote controls at the very minimum - kind of NCIS style profiling. Right on it boss.

It would be a cool device. You've had me thinking on it since I read your post. It's actually quite doable if the broadcaster would feel building the query database would be profitable. That's the kind of forward thinking that makes people rich!!!The possibilities are endless if it were implemented. One of my digital to analog converters has a pause on it when even on a live broadcast, you could pause the picture. If the tv is connected to the internet then you could use your pointer, type in "persons name" or "mountain name" or point to a food dish and query "recipe".

I know a lot of folks have the newer tv's that wirelessly log onto the internet. Mine has a small keyboard that slides out from under the remote. It comes in handy when doing searches on netflix or, looking at ebay, facebook, etc. real quick right from the tv. It could surely work off that same principle and evolve over time into something even more powerful....good thinking on your part!!!

Thanks; think what it would do for hearing impaired. Ever use close caption? I love the stations that spend good money on getting it correct. I have taught the deaf and they make big compensations for the people and media who forget about them.

Also adults and kids could point it around for extra info on the surroundings. Wish someone would invent it and pay me as a barometer on the beta. Oh, well, thanks for the conversation or convo. I saw that word used and made a note to myself to look it up but didn't yet.
