jdforney, I agree with you 100%. Some people like to buy move-in-ready houses but I WANT that fixer upper. And before one could buy this house they would need to love that bathroom!

Actually, it was the houses that were south of the City (in Daly City) that inspired the song. Those were built later in the century. These houses - while not in a historic district of the city - were all built in the late 30's and early 40's. They had a LOT of detail when built - crown moldings, parquet flooring, mahogany trim, etc. I grew up in a house just 2 blocks away and later bought another about a mile away. They are small - so this is a great remodel in terms of adding space. But I wish there had been more of an attempt to maintain the original "feel" of the house (though that would have been expensive!)
