Granddaughter's Apple Table

Today we took this down, tomorrow I will post pics of her Halloween Table.

The plates, bowls, glasses & placemats were all on clearance at Walmart for .25 each. The large acrylic platter in center was also on clearance there for .50.

The napkins also on clearance 2 for .50. The apples & candle etc. she borrowed from my stash.

The apple tree was new at a garage sale for $2.00, I also purchased a pear tree at the sale, they are the exact ones as my lemon tree that I paid $8 for a Home Goods this summer!

I see the one napkin was out of place, the setting got a bit messed up with the kids doing homework on the table, missed that one napkin in the first pics.

Wow, great buys and it sure would look good in my kitchen which has a split personality, both apples and chickens. I couldn't commit so just used them both, LOL.

How fun that you get to do this with her! I'll bet she loves going to Grandma's House!!

What a wonderful way for the two of you to get to do things together, and she's learning from you the little lessons of setting a pretty table and developing a love for making her home pretty.

Her little apple tree is so cute, and I love those red/white dishes. I like that she used both the red and green, and the candle was perfect for that too.

Yes, I haven't been back to the hospital to see her and mom yet. Mom hasn't been feeling so well and now they think she has an infection so no going home til Tuesday at the earliest. I've had Kenna and she and the garden are keeping me busy right now and we wanted to give mom some time to get well. I do talk to her several times a day. Think I am coming down with strep, so definitely want to stay away from them - yuck! Tdr4 - congrats on your new one coming in November. My birthday is in November, too. What a great month! I have lots of caterpillars in the garden including QMs, RAs, BSTs, PVS's, Sleepy Oranges, Wild Indigo Duskywings. That darned little Sleepy Orange mama keeps laying eggs on the Senna bicapsularis that is only about 2-5" tall. I keep thinking she will eventually start on the Senna hebecarpa - Wild Senna - and has layed a few eggs there - but nothing like the tiny Xmas Cassias. I've got some bush beans up now and I am hoping (in addition to getting beans) that the Silver Spotted Skippers will lay eggs on them. This is another one I haven't had yet in the garden. I guess I lost my big beautiful Passion Flower 'Lavendar Lady' this year. Still no sign and it is pretty much hopeless that she will show signs of life by this time. Will definitely order another next spring. I do have the P. incarnata to plant yet. It's getting off to a very slow start. The one thing that has REALLY taken off is the Maximilian sunflower. Wow!! Not only is she good...she's Great! She has such a sense of style & design... I see a designer in the making! I love what she selected for the table and how she set it all up. The bay window display is so cute and her card came out adorable....I would buy one like that if I saw it. Cute island display. I can see her liking those 'weird witches'... Also, very clever use of the broken plate. She's a 'Thinker/Problem Solver! Please give her my compliments for a job well done.. and tell her she's welcome to join us anytime with more of her creations.. Yachter..since she likes TS...just a friendly tip... Don't give her a basket to fill with things she likes at TSs Eastman's Dtr (Eastman/Kodak) started that way... They would take her shopping and give her a basket to fill with what she liked...as she got older she learned to get a much bigger basket (more things) to fit in there. By the time she was a mature woman she had a shopping obsession. People would groan when she came to Auctions..as she would buy up almost everything there. A true 'Shopaholic'. Upon her death, there were hundrends of unopened crates of things she purchased and never used.... Now...this is not to say that's what's going to happen to your DGdtr!! LOL :) jane

We celebrated my daughter's birthday tonight, and watched the video. I had no idea how quick the skydiving experience is! The video was well done, though, using flashbacks to make it longer. These pictures are stills taken from the video. I asked my daughter if she wore a helmet, and she said no. They pointed out that a helmet wouldn't do a lot of good if something went wrong skydiving. (Although I suppose one could fall during the landing.) My DD and her family always wear helmets when they ski or bike.

Your Gdtr should be very proud..
Everything looks lovely..and how nice that she takes an interest in this.
You bought some really nice things at such low prices.
I've never seen anything priced that low at Walmart.
I guess I'm not looking in the right places.
I like your apple tree centerpiece..that was also a great buy and it works perfectly with this theme.

I'm looking forward to her Halloween table..

Yachter, What a fun , bright, colorful table! Your granddaughter did a great job! Getting everything at such bargain prices makes it even more special I think. Can't wait to see her halloween table!

You are so funny. If you wouldn't of mentioned the napkin being out of place in the first pics, I wouldn't of noticed. Sounds like it was out of place for a good reason.

Be sure and tell DGD we loved another one of her tables. She is on her way to be a Master Tablescaper. My DGD is going to follow in her footsteps if she keeps her interest going and I love it.

BTW, I really like the way you faded the edges in the pictures.

Very, very, very, very nice job! I think it is so nice to take the time to show youngsters that it is possible to "dine elegantly" on a very tiny budget.

The centerpiece is great.

Love the red and white plates, by the way.
