Electrolux Icon E30EW85GSS Double Wall Oven issues
Comments (12)The first Electrolux oven (a single) we had wouldn't fit in the cabinet. The cabinet hole was square, but the oven was not. The box looked fine, but the whole thing was racked. We had our contractor take it back and we ordered another one. We were there when he unloaded it. Box looked fine, When we opened the door, both corners of the box down by the hinge had an alarming amount of distintively-blue "powder"-- fine glass shard from the enamel. We couldn't see visible cracks, but that was just too scary after reading about the blue enamel issues of the past. Took that one back, ordered a third. Were starting to think that maybe a whole container got dropped onto a dock or something. Something stressful had happened in the door hinge area. Third time, we unpacked the carton ourselves on the loading dock at the warehouse. There was some blue dust, but not nearly as much as before. We accepted this one, and now counters have been installed over it and work is marching on, but it hasn't been used yet, so only time will tell if we should have accepted that one or just moved on. We were also considering a Bosch as a contender. Then just recently, I read here about one catching on fire. You can always get a lemon, but it's not like there are some 100% reliable options out there. Fingers crossed for both of us!...See MoreElectrolux Icon 48' rangetop vs. Dacor 48' rangetop? Thoughts?
Comments (0)We're trying to decide between the Electrolux 48" gas cooktop E48GC76EPS and the Dacor 48" gas cooktop EG486SCH. They're about the same price and we're going with the Electrolux Icon double ovens. So the question is, do we put emphasis on "matching" or go with the Dacor, which seems a bit nicer to the touch and in looks. I know the Dacor ovens have been trashed all over the place, but haven't seen too much negative on the cooktop. Anyone care to weigh in? Many thanks......See MoreOven complaints? Comments (25)I thought I would update this thread with a recent experience that we had with our Double 30" Electrolux ovens. Installed this August, they seemed fine, until we released the time was running fast on the clock. No big deal. Then we noticed things were taking much longer to cook in the top oven than the bottom, as well as taking much longer to get to temperature. After buying some after market thermometers, we saw the top oven was running 150 degrees below what it said it was running at, unless convection was picked. Bottom oven seemed to run closer to desired temp, but still off a bit. Called Electrolux and had a service company take a look at it. We were not happy about having these problems in an expensive (and new) oven, and requested a replacement. Electrolux said they would get back to us. 1 week later we found out the swap was approved. New oven was delivered, and the temps are running dead on perfect. Every product can have a one off lemon, it's how they deal with it. I am VERY pleased with the service we received, and I would happily recommend Electrolux to anyone who is interested. FYI, regarding the blue flaking, we did have it on both the original oven and the replacement. After the oven was first installed and ran, there were some flakes on the bottom of the oven. After wiping them out the first time, we have never seen them occur again. I attribute it to the first time the oven is moved and not a big deal as it never happened a second time....See MoreElectrolux ICON double ovens - opinions please
Comments (9)Without the ability to get "On-Site service", You should be going with 2 separate ovens!!! Why???? (1) Double ovens, (regardless of manufacturer),fail much more often than do single brands---Yes even Wolf and Electrolux! Not a huge problem with these 2 brands, but if you are "In the Sticks" you need the best "Possible Odds" that you won't need service and Single ovens increase your Odds that you won't need service. (2) In many cases, (in fact most cases), when one of the double ovens fail, the other oven is also down. They share "main boards" etc, So with 2 single ovens, if one goes down, (Yeah U may be "cookin' on 4 Cylinders") but ya still got another 4-----Ya know what I mean?? As far as Elux Icon Single oven, I can vouch for the reliability and performance--(trouble free since 2006) when we bought it new. We will do a turkey in a couple weeks as we have done every year, and we haven't found one that won't fit in the icon---even thou I guess the shelves are a big shorter (front to back) than the non Icon model, no big deal (at least to us) if the turkey pan hangs a bit over the front and back of the grate (if it does atoll). The fully extending glide our racks sure come in handy with a heavy turkey, especially since our oven is mounted under the counters. Good luck with your upcoming decisions!!
