Try doing a search with the feature at the bottom of the first page. You'll find many threads with favorable comments on the Elux Icon and non-Icon ovens. Elux ovens have a great reputation here. I had planned on getting the regular, non-Icon ovens until I found a great deal on Series L Wolfs.

I'll link one thread discussing the Icon and non-Icons. The thread goes a bit off track in the middle, but there are several reviews and explanations of the differences. I didn't see a reason to spend extra for the Icon, but you might.

Without the ability to get "On-Site service", You should be going with 2 separate ovens!!! Why????

(1) Double ovens, (regardless of manufacturer),fail much more often than do single brands---Yes even Wolf and Electrolux! Not a huge problem with these 2 brands, but if you are "In the Sticks" you need the best "Possible Odds" that you won't need service and Single ovens increase your Odds that you won't need service.

(2) In many cases, (in fact most cases), when one of the double ovens fail, the other oven is also down. They share "main boards" etc, So with 2 single ovens, if one goes down, (Yeah U may be "cookin' on 4 Cylinders") but ya still
got another 4-----Ya know what I mean??

As far as Elux Icon Single oven, I can vouch for the reliability and performance--(trouble free since 2006) when we bought it new. We will do a turkey in a couple weeks as we have done every year, and we haven't found one that won't fit in the icon---even thou I guess the shelves are a big shorter (front to back) than the non Icon model, no big deal (at least to us) if the turkey pan hangs a bit over the front and back of the grate (if it does atoll).

The fully extending glide our racks sure come in handy with a heavy turkey, especially since our oven is mounted under the counters.

The Icon oven is a bit smaller front-to-back (about 1") than most brands, including the regular Electrolux. This also means that the racks do not pull out quite so far.

FWIW, having seen both, we preferred the look of the regular Electrolux WaveTouch ovens.

Gary, I can definitely see what you're saying about the advantage of two singles as opposed to one double. I considered two singles before, but didn't consider the fact that if one goes down they both go down. I have double ovens right now (Dacor) and that has happened before, although I have a handy husband and between the two of us we were able to google ourselves through the problem and fix it. If I go with two singles, I would go from a Bluestar rangetop to a range, and then mount the other (electric) oven at above-counter height. That would give me one gas and one electric, which (now that I think about it) might be the best of both worlds. So thank you for putting my brain through that exercise!

My kitchen is pretty traditional with Shaker-style cherry cabinets and either granite or quartz countertops. I'm actually very attracted to ovens with knobs rather than electronic touch control. Along that line, I am also looking at the Viking Pro Series 30" Custom Electric Premiere Oven (VESO), which has the knobs and an analog clock, if anyone has an opinion on that one.

We've had double Icons for about 4 months and they are great! The inside of the Icon doors are glass so they are easier to clean than the other Electrolux ovens that are glass and steel with nooks and crannies.

Before I bought the Icon I measured the inside of both the Icon and the Wavetouch and I found them to be the same depth. Check out the specifications at AJ Madison and it lists 18-1/32 inch depth for both ovens. On Gardenweb I frequentlly see people comment the Icon is shallower but I don't know where that comes from. Perhaps I am missing something.

Billy - the cavities are the same depth, but the racks are different. The Icon rack is about 1/2" shallower than the non-Icon. The size of the cavity is irrelevant - it's the size of the racks that matters.

Peter -- that's correct, thank you for pointing it out.

I came to the opposite conclusion that you did, that it's the size of the cavity that matters, not the size of the racks. I don't care if a pan extends 1/2 inch over the edge of the rack, assuming I would want to put it that close to the edge of the cavity or door.

Now if the racks are 1/2 inch narrower that's a different story, but I think the 1/2 inch loss is front to back.

Billy - did you measure from the inside of the door to the cowl around the convection fan? That's the limiting factor on how big a pan you can get in there. Our impression was that the reason the Icon's racks are slightly smaller is because that distance is slightly smaller.

In the end, we decided that the 1/2" did not matter to us either way - the biggest pan we use is a half-sheet.

I don't remember where I measured at the time. I probably would have measured both ovens in the same place but I really don't remember. Electrolux does list the cavities as being the same size.

I seem to recall that someone guessed the Icon racks may be shallower to help prevent breakage of the door glass in case the racks are not pushed all the way in. The Icon has the glass covering the inside of the oven door.

How do you like your Electrolux oven? We're very happy with ours, but it has been only 3 or 4 months. They feel solid, cook well, and we like the controls.
