We have the single wall oven. Our oven also did not reach temperature (always check them with a thermometer when new and when baking something critical). Ours was low also. Had to add 20 or 25 degrees to ours. Sorry, don't remember which now. As far as length of time to get to temp I've not checked that as I typically set the oven to preheat while getting everything ready so it is probably 15 to 30 min before I use the oven. Maybe not the best habit to have, but way we've always done it. Works for us especially if we are going to use our AG 36 range which takes quite a while to get to temp.

I'll see about testing ours today (bit over a month old now) and let you know what I come up with. Bit early at 5:50 AM to be mucking about in the kitchen at the moment.

The temperature issue is AFTER raising it the allowed 35 degrees. It was much worse before that.

Turned on again this am and same thing; set for PH to 400 deg and after PH dinged it was only 330, let it go another 15 mins and it was at 400, let another 15 mins go and it was a little over 400, maybe 410.

While its true that I could be prepping during the heat up time, kinda feel like its a little messed up if it thinks it is at the temperature it supposed to be.

Going to look thru the manual and see if there is any other info in there.

I am concerned that it won't heat up to what it needs to for the cleaning feature; that is really my big concern.

Going to try that function in the next day or two to see what happens.

Okay here we go. Keep in mind through this that our oven is preset to be 20 or 25 degrees higher than that displayed on the oven itself.

Set oven to preheat then 350. Did not time how long it took to get to preheat to the point of the oven saying it was at 350. Maybe should have. Thermometer was in centre of oven centre of rack. Checked when I heard the oven beep and the display went from PREA to 350 and the temperature on the thermometer was 325.

Set the timer and watched the temp. Two minutes later the temp was at 350.

Sounds like you let your oven go another 20 minutes before you checked it again and saw it was at 350? If so, may want to just see how long it takes to actually get there as it maybe did faster. Ours did in just 2 minutes with less initial temperature increase adjustment. If it took the full 20 minutes to finally reach temp after it said it had then that does not sound right to me at least. Certainly NO expert.

BUT, here is the fun bit on ours. Temp kept climbing. Went up from there all the way to 400 and sat on 400 for a bit before it drifted down. Now keep in mind that I set the oven up 20 or 25 degrees, if memory serves, because of my first tests when we first got it. Different than the first test is that this time instead of going back every so often to see where the reading was I sat in front of the oven and kept and eye on the thermometer. The temp drifted down from 400 to right on 350 (maybe just the slightest of hairs below 350) before the oven clicked on again. Took about 17 minutes to drift down. Bottom element illuminated on the display and stayed on a minute or so and then went out. About a minute or so later the top element came on for about the same time. Temperature stayed hovering at 350-365. I sat there for another about 10 minutes and then I decided it must have leveled off and shut things down.

So, taking into account my adjusting the oven up as I did, the 400 degree initial temperature after the preheat PRE letters went off and the 350 came on is still a bit strange. They do run on averages I would guess like a home heater thermostat (the house one). Heater runs until it reaches a certain level of temp over the set number. Shuts off and then clicks on when it reaches a certain number of degrees below the set number. That way your home averages at the temperature set.

Might have mine set slightly high so may adjust it if I find timed bakes to not be working out right (overdone I would think would be the result in my instance). Well see how it goes. So far not really noticed a problem. Have done a couple of cakes, roasted potatoes, chips, pita pizzas and Yorkshire puddings. All seemed to be okay and have cooked okay. I'll have to just keep an eye on it and see if I need to adjust mine down a bit.

I guess in just timing wise we are similar really, but NOT in the fact that yours took that long to reach temp at all from when it said it was.

I too have dust in between the front and interior panel glass. The glass is open at the bottom on ours for air circulation I would guess. That way the front glass stays cool. Don't see much I can really do to prevent it as that is the design.

Well, wrote you a reply and it got rejected because of something or other and I lost it.

We must have been posting at the same time before.

Gist of my lost message was:
Ours actually reaches over temp initially, but could be partially due to my adjustment for the oven to reach higher than stated on the display. Also, even though new thermometer when oven purchased could have a bit of inaccuracy there too, but would not think 50 degrees for us. Might adjust ours down slightly, but so far seems to be cooking okay.

If I was in your shoes and had an oven that said it reached temp and then took 15 to 20 minutes afterwards to actually reach internal temp then I think I'd be calling service out for it. Especially after already increasing the actual temp compared to display temp by 35 degrees. Think that is the max either way you can go on the ovens.

Seems like quality on a lot of appliances are not what they used to be. Knock on wood ours is doing fine for us. Our brand new Danby drink fridge is another story. Put it in October and it went out last week. Service says it has lost its freon and are bringing out a new one Monday. Would have thought it would have lasted longer than that for $800. Not a lot of money for some, but a big pile of it for us.

I'm going to set it again and this time watch the thermometer in the oven to see if any difference. All very interesting.

I have tons of dust btwn the panes of glass along with staining of some sort and this is how it arrived out of the box; unacceptable in my mind.

They came to clean the other day and the kid ended up tearing the rubber gasket trying to get the glass out(it does not seem to be so easy). They are now replacing the gasket and all of the glass panes except probably the oven door one.

I seem to be one of those posters that has multiple appliance issues. Fridge not cold enough, the oven issues and couple of weeks of use and compactor pedal broke! Doesn't compact well at all; my old one was sooooo much better.

The saying "they just don't make things like they used to" comes to mind and from the different service people in and out my doors, they too believe this!

I'd be interested in what you find watching the thermometer. By your description so far though sounds like something is not right.

On the glass issue I don't know what could be done about that. Ours isn't looking too bad and don't get me wrong, we love the look of the oven and how it works so far. Looking at the design though, there does not seem to be much that you can do as ours is open pretty much all the way across. I've not measured, but seems like a good 1/2 inch or more probably. Even if we called out service to clean I would think it would not take long for dust to be back in there.

Here is the point to move on as it has nothing to do with the Icon, but.... Don't feel like the lone ranger on multiple appliance issues. Knock on wood we've just had the drink fridge issue really on the latest redo of the kitchen.
When we first moved into the house we replaced all the builder appliances with stainless Amana ones. Perhaps not the best line in the word compared to what could be spent on others, but we liked them and they seemed good quality.

Right after the 12 month everything covered part of the warranty ran out on the $500 microwave it stopped working. Called the manufacturer and they gave us who to call for service. Warranty we were then told was "THREE parts and labour" not FREE parts and labour which is what you are used to hearing. If they said it fast enough it sounded like one and the same over the phone. Anyway, would only cover three main parts. Service came out, put a cup of water in the micro, ran it for a minute and said "Yep does not work". Ran off a huge list of stuff that it needed (basically all the pieces other than the shell and touch pad that are used to build the microwave). Even with our "warranty" we'd end up paying over $300 to fix it. We did not fix it, but did get charged $100 and some for his comming out and doing a diagnostic!
Hubby said forget that and he binned the whole thing and we bought a cheapo under $100 microwave. Thought that if all they are going to last is a year then would rather pay less than $100 a year than $500!!

Not long after the ice maker started leaking into the ice bin freezing the whole thing solid. Was now out of the same warranty so did not want another "diagnostic" to tell us it was leaking. Hubby took the ice maker out and it was in sad shape after only a bit over 12 months. Sad to say, but for the price of the parts (a lot cheaper now so we may go ahead and order the assembly and install it now) then we decided to just pick a bag of ice up once every week or so for the amount that we use.
Then, while family was visiting we were using the oven, openned it to put something in, closed it (DID NOT SLAM IT IN ANY WAY!) normally and the whole front piece of glass shattered in tonne of pieces all over the kitchen floor. Luckily on that one the store we purchased all the appliances from took pity on us and the owner sent thier guys out and replaced the glass for free. That was some good old time customer service.
