Odd question about window coverings

We all know that nice window coverings can be difficult, especially for large windows, sliding glass doors or French doors.

However, it occurs to me that I find hotel curtains easy to deal with. I like layers of curtain -- that is, a sheer and then a room darkening curtain. I like that the tracks are on the ceiling, and the curtains are always so easy to open with the attached rod.

I looked online, and you can buy hotel hardware -- and it's pretty cheap! The track itself comes in 8' lengths (but can be cut or pieced to make other lengths), and the little metal things that attach the curtain to the track aren't unlike drapery hooks from a past generation. They wouldn't work on ready-made curtains, but I am a capable (if not enthusiastic) seamstress.

I just realized I didn't check for shipping costs, but the tracks themselves were reasonable ($25 for an 8' track, several color options available).

Has anyone used these items in your own home?
I'm assuming these would be heavy-duty.
I'd love to know how it worked out.
