I don't think we are getting an accurate color from your pictures. I agree with Casey - the pink look taupe, and I think the turquoise looks like a gray gray/green - Casey is probably right in that it is more of a seafoam color. You are seeing it in person. Would one of the new popular grays we are seeing a lot of look right? I am thinking Owl Gray if in fact the the turquoise you are referring to has a greyish tint. If not, I would go with white walls and white trim for a vintage "spa" look. I love tone on tone whites when done right - and I probably don't know how to do it right :). One way to get that look would be a higher gloss on the trim than the walls or a gayish white on the walls and a bright white on the trim. You might try posting on the Home Decorating forum also - that is a good place for color help.

Lukkirish, I canoot upload any pictures, if I do, my computer will explode. I'm on strict orders not to uploand for this reason. However, when my daughter comes home from school today, I'll ask her to take a couple of pictures with her camera and upload them on her computer to this thread. Bronwynsmom: I do not want a trite look for this bathroom, although I am a lover of pink. When I hang dry all of my clothing it's pretty much pinks, lovely greens, and blacks with a blue something thrown in, plus of course denim. I appreciate the advice. Especially on the white trim. Someone up-thread told me to match the cabinetry, which is a fairly stark white, so that is a good thing. Is the best way to compare whites to go to the paint store and look at the sample chips under the flourescent lighting fixtures at that display? I do want a soft white... softer than the cabinets. What makes a white "soft" looking? That Ballard bedroom is gorgeous, Pink Fairy is a really lovely shade of pink as well. It is gorgeous with all of the beige/taupe trim and accent pieces. And again I'm seeing it a large, airy room. My bathroom is small and stuffed with things like sinks and cabinets. Is there a rule about what color does when you bring it into a smaller room and you are standing close to it? I would think that, to the eye, the color is intensified. I did the avocado bathroom that rjinga linked above, and I just wanted to add that if the countertop color is holding you back, painting it could be a great solution. We had the same concern of doing damage by removing the old laminate counter, so that is what prompted the whole idea. The finish has held up beautifully so far, and it was the first faux painting job I'd ever done, so it's definitely within the scope of a beginner. I would suggest ignoring your current countertop for the time-being and picking your color scheme for the rest of the bath. Then, find some laminate, granite, or other countertop samples you like that work with the new scheme and see if you can replicate the look with some acrylic paints. There are many beautiful brown granites and laminates that would be pretty simple to copy, since you mentioned liking chocolate brown; I think that could be lovely with the aqua and pink.

I certainly never expected this number of comments when posing this almost two weeks ago! As empty nesters, I considered our children that would be visiting and using those bathrooms. My daughter and I both love something a little out of the box especially considering we have other bathrooms that can be more neutral. As far as selling it later, we have moved around quite a bit in the last few years bc of my husband's job and while we don't have plans to sell per se, you never know what the future holds. We're hoping this one could be the last one we build. We're still in planning stage and haven't begun picking out finishes, but I'll be sure and post again with an update! Thanks to all!
