As someone who comes from a family of 5 daughters who shared 1 bathroom for many years, I can only say, how lucky they are, I'm sure they're going to love it!

The pink your leaning towards is my favorite too, very pretty indeed. In the SW collection, I'm thinking maybe Verbena, Diminutive, Amour or Angelic Pink are the closest matches. They are very light but would look great next to a creamy white, not too bright or overwhelming. While any of the 4 would be really pretty, I personally like Verbena the best. If it were me, I'd do the door in the same white as the cabinet and trim but since I adore the combination of pink with citrus green I'd also paint the ceiling in SW Citrine Green. Then I'd bring in towels and accessories in those three colors to help tie it all together. Very cute!

I have found when we painted my youngest daughters nursery we found a pink we liked and then went up to the lighter shade on the card. It was perfect! We used it as the backdrop for a mural on the wall. We still whitewashed over it for a soft pink sunset effect so it would be useless to show you a picture, but my point is all pinks look REALLY pink once on the wall to me. My good friend painted her dd's room pink and it came out REALLY pink from the card. So I would probably pick a pink and go a shade lighter!

below is what I wanted and I ended up going a titch lighter to Mother of pearl. Which was perfect! if you want a more playful bathroom I like the White dogwood better.

I mean to add the link I posted is the same picture and is white dogwood correct? It was the original look we were going for but we went a lighter shade to go more serene. Sorry I get all excited at pink! We have 2 little girls!!

Thank you so much for your replies. Lukkiirish, five girls? You were very lucky Irish. My Irish grandmother had seven daughters, my mother being one of them. Our old bathroom was so horrible, it saddened me to picture my daughters getting ready for their weddings in there. So we are fortunate to renovate the bathroom, but it really needed it! And L.I. you certainly know your SW colors well! The ones you named are the same ones that I'm considering. At the SW paint store, they were out of several sample cards, so the manager just gave me a fan with all of the colors on it. I can look at any SW color. Yipeee!

Summiebee, I am so surprised that the room I linked is from SW. As cheery as that color appears to be, it looks more beige than pink on the SW card /sample. I was thinking about choosing a color between Verbena and it's "one-down" neighbor, Impatiens Petal. But your advice is to stay light, so I'll stick with the top-of-the-card colors. Here's the quote from the SW picture about White Dogwood: "This pink is very soft and feminine, but it's not sticky. Pair it with white or metallic surfaces to make it ethereal and inviting."

I really want ethereal, not cotton candy. I'm wondering if Verbena or Diminutive Pink is too much. I want to walk into the bathroom and think "Ahhh, lovely" rather than "Disney princesses." So I'm definitely staying with the palest of pale pinks.

And what about trim colors for Verbena, Diminutive Pink or White Dogwood? With the black floor and granite, should I go for a gray white or a softer white with a bit of cream in it?

I'm sorry, ellendi, our posts crossed. BM Opal is very beautiful. It too is what I would consider almost a ballet pink, it's so so subtle and lovely. It's such a classic shade, what else is going on in that daughter's bedroom?

Yes, COK, I am very lucky, girls are the best, aren't they? LOL That's so nice they provided you with a deck, I have one too, they are quite handy. I don't think the Verbena will be too much, but you could go 25 or 50% or maybe even lighten it with some white. Did you check it out next to that green? It's stunning.

My masterbath is C2 Slipstream. It is definitely pinkish, but not "pink". A mature pink. I have it paired with dark cherry and marble. It might be a choice to consider if you want something that is feminine without being too "little girl". It also happens to be a very flattering color. I've considered painting my master bedroom the same.

Cupofkindness: My daugther had a pink and green floral quilt. (This room has since been changed) I first saw this color in a neighbors bathroom. It could have a peach like quality to it, but in my daughter's room, which has lots of light, it stayed pink. I got many complements on the color and a few people used it in their homes as well.

Our guest bath is a very light pink. We bought the paint at Walmart I think (about 7 years ago), the color was pink vanilla? I get lots of compliments on it.

I have to agree with Summiebee when she said all pinks look REALLY pink once on the wall to me. My advice is to go very light.

My daughter just painted her baby girls nursery SW Intimate White. It's a very beautiful light soft pink and it looks great with cream, white, yellow, green and black.

I once had a pink living room that I actually got compliments on from the guys. It was so pale, that it looked white until we painted the trim white (originally it was cream). It managed to look elegant and somehow cheerful without being mauve. I actually remember the formula because it was 1 oz of magenta to a gallon of pure white base, nothing else.

Yesterday I bought a sample can of Amour Pink and White Dogwood. I Painted a large sheet of poster board, half with each color. And then I proceeded to carry the posterboard through the 24" doorway into the bathroom and the two sides of the posterboard got stuck together. So when I pulled them apart, I had Amour on Dogwood and Dogwood on Amour. Swell. So, back to the craft closet and I found a sturdy piece of foam board which fit through the doorway and I painted the samples in the bathroom.

Both pinks are absolutely lovely. I'd be happy with either. But I will tell you that Amour pink looks more like the picture of the bedroom linked up-thread then Dogwood White. Dogwood White is definitely more beige, perhaps a little more sophisticated looking? I'm sure a lot has to do with lighting.

Lighting in the bathroom (given that the fixtures aren't in yet!) was getting dim by the time all of this happened. But since there is a Solatube in the sink room, I could see that Amour was pinker. This morning I will put another coat of paint on the foam board after the granite people leave. I might go out and buy Diminutive Pink and Verbena too. Lukkirish, I think Verbena is my favorite of all of the SW pale pinks, but in such a small room, where you are right beside the walls all of the time, it might be too much. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again for all of the great ideas and suggestions!

Sounds like you are doing this exactly right. And getting good ideas and advice as well.

I am in the peach/beige camp myself. Pink is very strong, and shows up when it's on the wall, even when the chip is a bit beige...particularly with black. You are right that the peachier color is likely to be more sophisticated. It can save you from the Bye Bye Birdie/1950's malt shop/Chevy pitfall, which is a risk with pink and black! In a bathroom, I always want a color that is reflective, and gives back light...you can see that quality easily when you look for it.

With pink walls, I would advise against a white that is too creamy, as some pinks can make it look yellowed very easily, and too much yellow in the cream can make clear pinks look dull. If you like a creamy tone, you will be happier with a peachier pink that also has a whisper of pale gold in it. A soft but clear white often works best with pinks. Guard against any green undertones in any case, which will be magnified by the pink.

Bronwynsmom: I do not want a trite look for this bathroom, although I am a lover of pink. When I hang dry all of my clothing it's pretty much pinks, lovely greens, and blacks with a blue something thrown in, plus of course denim. I appreciate the advice. Especially on the white trim. Someone up-thread told me to match the cabinetry, which is a fairly stark white, so that is a good thing.

Is the best way to compare whites to go to the paint store and look at the sample chips under the flourescent lighting fixtures at that display? I do want a soft white... softer than the cabinets. What makes a white "soft" looking?

That Ballard bedroom is gorgeous, Pink Fairy is a really lovely shade of pink as well. It is gorgeous with all of the beige/taupe trim and accent pieces. And again I'm seeing it a large, airy room. My bathroom is small and stuffed with things like sinks and cabinets. Is there a rule about what color does when you bring it into a smaller room and you are standing close to it? I would think that, to the eye, the color is intensified.

I had another sample mixed, this one is called "Angelic Pink." It's less peachy than White Dogwood and less pinky than Amour Pink--in other words, it's right in between! I've got the first coat on and once the second coat dries I'll let you know what I think.

Welll, my daughter's camera was out of batteries, so I can't post the pictures. So sorry.

I am still trying to decide on which pink. Now I have three samples (Angelic, White Dogwood, and Amour Pink) and the formulas for least three others (Intimate White, Patient White and Possibly Pink). There are two differences between all of these colors (1) red vs. magenta and (2) yellow vs. gold. And of course the amount of the tints. Patient pink contains 1/32 of an ounce less gold (in my 32 oz sample size) than White Dogwood. Possibly Pink is just as close to Angelic, Angelic has 1/32 more yellow than possibly pink.

So needless to say I'm driving myself crazy over this.... Thankfully the countertops are going in right now, so at least I can look at these colors against the black granite.

I'm now leaning towards Angelic, it has more yellow than Amour (so it's peachier), but since it lacks the gold tint, I think the color stays a little clearer as the light dims in the room. White Dogwood doesn't look as lovely (it looks so beige, more like a flesh tone than a pink) So perhaps I'll do Angelic at 75% for the first coat to tone down the pinkiness of it.

Now I must decide on trim and ceiling paint. I read on another thread here that it's doable to use the same light color on the ceiling that is used on the trim, just in a flat rather than a gloss.

Any good SW whites to go with Angelic?
