Last summer, I took on a job for newlyweds who simply requested "We want our master bedroom to be super sexy and hot. Do whatever...we trust you." So naturally, I headed straight to the paint store, demanded the hottest of hot pinks and the midnightliest of blacks. One trip to the flea market, two trips to my seamstress and one call to my carpenter later, the space was done.

Known for being a fearless decorator, I was confident HE would be less shocked by the high-energy hue than SHE would. Well, it turns out they loved it equally. Perhaps if I had paired the pink hottie with yellows and dainty blues, the tale would have turned into more of a horror story than happy anecdote.

I created this ideabook to propose the question to y'all: Has hot pink evolved into a gender-neutral color? OR is just what a guy will put up with and what a girl wants? Discuss.

Another daring designer! I am in love with this woman for taking such a big risk in a teeny space. Flocked wallpaper is definitely more of a she thing but I think guys appreciate the texture and the scale. Or am I totally wrong? Check out this hot pink paper for a steal at only $60 per roll.

Ducduc! The most brilliant manufacturer of modern kids' room furniture. I commend them again and again for their great use of bold color. In addition to awesome pieces available in hot pink, they also sport the perfect orange and the perfect blue. Plus, their furniture is so cool, adults can use it in their own rooms once little JoJo ain't so little anymore.

Yeah, this is a girly-ish space but it's not really dainty or uber-feminine. My two cents? I think it's the ebony floors, unfussy fabrics and chunky white that de-lady the otherwise girlpower color. "Eros Pink" from Sherwin-Williams is pretty much spot-on with these walls.

Hot pink and dove grey. SICK. I think this works because of its overall sparse mood and the scale of each meticulously chosen piece. Great matches for both of these colors, paint-wise, are "Passive" and "Cherries Jubilee," both from Sherwin-Williams.

Pink is my favorite color but because I want our house to reflect both of us, I have been sticking to less feminine shades. But now I am thinking maybe if I cover a room in marble for him, he'll put up with the pink for me. The most inspiring thing was the comment and picture posted by pinkisnice. I like your husband's logic and your living room-pink done right!

Pink has definitely gotten some manly love these days. The hotter the pink, the better. I'm designing a home now and the husband told me plainly "I'm open to pink, but it better be a bad-ass pink Nicole." So said, so done. Let's just say we'll have a bad-ass pink wall or two in this project.

From a mans point of view, all this is too much, not sure how you could ever work pink into a mans pallet
