Name this 'plant' & help me have my dream wedding :)
Comments (6)I'm not convinced that it's a plant at all, but a moss ball or something similar. There are also floral foam balls of various sizes in which fresh flowers or leaves can be inserted. The woody stuff looks like drift wood, which might have been spray painted to make it dark. It looks like something of a tripping hazard to me, at least the way it's set up in the photograph. How are people supposed to get to their seats? Maybe no one is supposed to use the aisle, right? Other than you and the wedding party?...See MoreDaughter's Elopement Drawing Near!

Gooster, they are merely living out the modern dream of beng the stars of their own life show. Theirs must be a costume drama :-). adding, my comment sounds unkind on second reading. If they are historians or have a special interest in a certain period, or are theater folk who want costumes to evoke past roles or performances, or their grandparents or great grandparents were immigrants from a certain country in a particular time period, I could certainly understand the significance of period costuming and its importance to the couple! Otoh, if they are just orchestrating their wedding for the cool pictures and it reflects nothing about their shared or individual history or interests, then my original comment about being the stars of their own show might well describe the situation. In any case, it's their party :-)...See MoreWedding shoe opinions, please
Comments (82)I agree with the others, your 'unmadeup' face is quite stunning! Similar to the pic of Bobbi Brown, I'd go for a very light makeup job, just to enhance your natural beauty. You have beautiful eyes, so I'd just add some mascara to really show them off. A light touch of foundation could blend any different tones in your skin, and a hint of colour on your cheeks. Your lips are a nice colour, so you could decide to go bare or wear something similar to Bobbi's shade, in the photo. As far as the shoes, they are really pretty, but I do have one question. Have you ever worn that style before, where the outside length of the shoe is closed, but the inner side is open? That's exactly the style I wore 35 years ago when I married, and they really hurt my feet after a short while. Years later I bought another pair of dress shoes in that style, and experienced the same thing. I don't know what it was, but that style shoe is the only kind I've ever worn, that isn't comfortable on me. If you've worn that kind before, then I'm sure those will also be fine! But if you haven't, perhaps you could go to store, try on something similar and walk around in them, just to make sure you find them comfortable. Good luck, (LOVE your dress, btw) you're going to be a gorgeous bride!...See MoreWedding Attire Follow Up: Help w Shoes
Comments (90)Annie, you are right... and that was my thinking in ordering it even after I discovered that the daisy dress now fits. However, where it is a little too big now is in the bodice.. for a surplice dress that means some gaping. At my current weight, i can tack it or pin it... but as I lose more weight (knock on wood), i imagine I will lose more through the bust and back which could make the gapping more than a pin can manage. IDK. I do have wide shoulders and a large rib cage -- meaning the bones, not the fat on top lol.. so it may not be too bad. I think the waist/hips etc will be fine and very adaptable-- though the waist and tie are sewn in vs an elastic band. This is part of what makes it attractive IMO.. it looks more presentable AND it cinches in more than an expandable elastic band. I tried it on yesterday "as I was".. hair in a ponytail, slippers and (ahem) no bra. I thought it looked flattering and nice even then. I will try it on this weekend with proper undergarments and shoes and see what I think. It isn't terribly expensive so if it looks great when done up, I will likely keep it. I think it could work for a lot of occasions ... and since my weight loss is slow/steady, I would imagine it would work for awhile without alterations-- but weight loss is a funny thing. You can't always predict what will change. (Also, I will continue to watch to see if the smaller size comes back in stock) Thanks all for your thoughts, encouragement and recommendations!...See More- 15 years ago
