Tell me about what I brought home!
Comments (23)I brought the Hellebores (Lenten Rose), Tricyrtis (toad lilies) and the Variegated Solomon's Seal. The Solomon's Seal will tolerate sun, but prefers afternoon shade. It will grow to a nice clump in a few years. I started out with a couple of pots several years ago and now I have it around my hosta, ferns and trees. DH slammed the trunk on the poor little things and broke them. They will be fine next year. As soon as I can figure out how to do it I will post pics of my clumps. They also have darling little bells that hang along the stems in early spring. The Hellebores like to be grown under deciduous trees. In February they put out wonderful flowers which are greatly appreciated at that time of year! In the summer they have great leaves which make a small bush. (I cut off all of the leaves when they flower. All of mine are now covered with leaves again). In the summer they like to be shaded and no wet feet. Actually I am amazed at how hardy they are. I only began seeing them around this part of the world in the last 7-8 years. I thought they were as hard as the dickens to grow. Not really. I thought that Datura was called Devil Trumpet because the trumpets faced upward and Brugmansia was called Angel Trumpet because the trumpets faced downward. Could be wrong, often am. Comments (27)The Other Side...I think we agree on this topic slightly more than you give credit...what I said was: "There is healthy bonding with your child that is less "child centered" and establishes more independent children" I think from the sounds of it you have formed a relatively healthy attachment to your kids while fostering independence at the same time. My post was really more directed toward unhealthy "spouse replacement" type attachments with children. Your example of letting a 4 month old cry until they vomited is interesting and debateable of course. It is easy to judge without all the info. From your description it sounds on the outset horrible, as it conjurs images of a child left to cry for hours in abusive neglect, however, without the full story I reserve my judgement. Is it possible the parent not adequately burp the baby and the baby vomited after less than 15 min of crying? The parent did go in and change them. It is possible that it was not as abusive as it sounds, but rather a very normal process every parent must go through to allow their infant an opportunity to learn to "self-soothe" in order to develop good sleep habits that last a lifetime? It sounds as if you have the one child? Regarding the 16 year old world traveler. I can't say in this day and age I would send my child (16 is still a child) to travel alone in europe. I suspect it was with a school group (that is not alone)? Otherwise...I cannot give you the "way to go" you are looking for. I simply cannot agree that it is a "good" thing that your 16 year old "did" europe all alone. I am glad you and your ex Husband agreed...I presume a lack of closeness was not what broke up your marriage then? Regarding the pill swallowing...if you can swallow food...you can swallow a pill. Unless you take your sustainance via a straw...you can swallow something that big. Unless someone can show me in the DSM a diagnosable illness that precludes you from swallowing something smaller than stuff you put down your pie whole 3 times a day...I am not buying it! Your mother did you a disservice not teaching you that life skill earlier. I plan to ensure that every one of my children can swallow a pill. Sorry that hit a nerve...It is ridiculous!!!! Its a flippin pill! ok you can yell at me now. Ha ha...See MoreMy husband doesn't like my adult son.
Comments (20)I am in the same situation. It’s New Years Day and I am lying here depressed. My adult son came to temporarily live with me and my new husband of 2 years about 7 months ago. He asked and my husband said yes. My husband decided not to charge him rent or anything, even told him he can eat what we eat, wash clothes, basically our home is his home. We have a written agreement which we all signed. My son takes out the garbage and cuts grass, clean his room & bathroom. He’s making plans to move back out as agreed. He has savings. Is my son perfect? No, but he is not disrespectful. Other than not walking around the house naked, nothing else has changed in our marital relationship. My husband took it upon himself to step in as a father to my son and even asked my son if that was ok. His biological father…didnt do his job and has no real relationship with him. My husband and son get along fine. However i know my husband is faking it. If my son makes one mistake or forget something, my husband is very critical and judgemental. He complains to me telling lies about my son and says hateful things about my son. i love my husband but this is unacceptable to me. i am beyond hurt and angry. My son doesnt even know how my husband really feels. What brought to this post…my husband thought my son had left and left the door unlocked at 2am. My son was actually outside. Anyway all i literally said was to tell him and immediately he accused me of coming to my son’s defense and starts going off. I am confused. If someone does something wrong or forgot something, isnt the natural thing to do is tell them? What did I say wrong? There is so much more I could say to paint the picture of everything that has gone on. I dont want a divorce but this is too crazy!...See Morepeople brought their dog to my house showing!?!
Comments (77)We will wait to see what the bid is, my realtor has the feeling they are going to low ball, they did it to another client of theirs a month ago. This is also the last house we are selling through a Realtor. That we've decided on. I now know why realtors aren't happy with showing a house with a video security system. In the past 4 almost 5 weeks we've had buyers letting their children roam free in the house, then had kids steal stuff, I've caught them on video going through our closet and drawers, people showing up while we were at work without scheduling an appointment. (If you've ever had an alert sent to your phone saying a person was detected in your home without a viewing scheduled it'll give you a slight heart attack.) Adults going through closets and pulling suits on hangers off the racks and touching and looking at them, people walking around the house using their phone to record a video tour, people scheduling a time then no call and no showing, only to show up 2-3 hours later while we're in the middle of cooking dinner. We had a few schedule a showing for 2pm and then show up at 10:00 while I was in the shower. one opened a drawer in my closets and sprayed my cologne around, one realtor was smoking in my driveway stomped his cigarette out and then flicked the butt onto my neighbors property (my neighbor saw that on his security camera). The quality of realtors seems to be going down the toilet. If they're pulling this sh*t when they know they're on camera what are they doing when there isn't a video system?...See Morestitches216
